Books on the shelves are in a jumble, and sometimes the cut flowers are faded. But there are books and there are flowers. Mostly, there's the atmosphere -- young mothers with their babies, couples with their kids, the handicaped man who gives five euros to...the musician because though he has few funds, he loves the music. Dining: beef a bit "chewy" but fish excellent.More

We booked this place based on the reviews about it being where the locals go - and we weren't disappointed. Fantastic live music, prompt and friendly service and delicious food! Fish was amazing and so were the desserts.

One of the most genuine french experiences we had. The staff talks a minimum of english, but are very friendly and eager to manage the language barriers. Very good food, surrounded entirely by locals.

Booked after reading reviews on Trip Adviser and not disappointed. My wife and I ate at Quartier Rouge on a Saturday evening when it was pretty busy, mainly locals enjoying the long weekend. At first glance, Quartier Rouge appears to be mainly a bar, with...a few tables set aside for eating. Certainly, most of the customers when we arrived (21:00) were at the bar drinking but the food is excellent! The atmosphere was lively, fun, and welcoming. The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and keen to chat with us despite our very limited French. We had a great evening and will return.More

While staying at Mama Shelter, we stumbled upon this little gem. The (friendly)owner named it after the redlight district in my hometown Amsterdam. Had some goodtimes there, he told us. Well we had some great times at his place. Its a place where only locals...come and every now and then some lost tourists like myself and my friend. Always at the end of a great day, just before we returned to the hotel, ad a couple of drinks there. Loved it. Next time we take the sunday brunch special!More

I had lunch there recently with a couple of friends. We stumbled across this restaurant after visiting the Pere Lachaise cemetery and we didn't regret finding it: the food and the atmosphere were very good and the service super friendly! Would dine again when in...the area!More

i had heard about this place and discovered it...i loved it;love the setting which is typical french "bistrot" style but with a cuisine that is worth a very good restaurant..from the apetizer til the dessert, everything was perfect. We got to meet the owner lorraine which was...very friendly and helpful with our choices. They also have a very good wine list ...nothing more to say but try it!!More

This is such a great discovery! A very cool bistrot, that looks like it was decorated in the 50s, with a great atmosphere, a nice playlist and good wines. The rillettes (a sort of French paté) was yummy and the baguette fresh. After having spent...years going out in the 10th and the Strasbourg Saint Denis super hype hood, it's refreshing to be in the new trendy part of Paris, not spoiled yet. It's super close from the Mama Shelter hotel and from the Place Gambetta. The owner Lorraine was adorable. Next time i'll stay for diner !More

Quarter rouge is a typical French bistro set in an old diary shop. The food was excellent, sophisticated without pretention. This was a real treat for us off the beaten tourist tracks. We liked it so much we went back Sunday evening for the live...concert....A definite must for those who want to experience Paris differently.More

Belleville / Pere Lachaise
At the eastern edge of Paris lies Belleville / Père
Lachaise, an understated wonderland of local
treasures. Alongside the world-famous cemetery,
family-owned delicatessens and cafés nestle between
local stores and establishments. The richness of the
population here has created a little Chinatown of
Asian restaurants, and the area comes to life at night
by a funky underground scene. Façades change from one
