Great atmosphere in the heart of Paris. Nice welcome, good and efficient service. The food is quite basic but good and the atmosphere is very nice. You want to have fun with some friends, this is the place to go. If you like to see people having good time this is also the place to go.

Went there with a couple of friends and we really enjoyed ourselves. The place is lively and the food plentiful (five courses) and tasty.

It’s hard to give anything more than a 3 for the food – but it’s not the reason people come here. I’ve been coming off and on for years, always bringing somebody new to experience this rustic restaurant. The reason: the atmosphere and the fun. Yes, they have unlimited average vin de table that you pour from barrels, but the... More

For reasons best known to the management, all the staff wear cheesy Viking helmets. The place is interesting and the seating encourages conversation with other diners which is very social. There is a starter buffet with a soup and the selection is fair. The main course is a choice of various meats supposedly cooked on an open fire grill. We... More

Experienced the Gaulois Medieval Table of Food and drink, Rustic place with their ancient theme restaurant. Ohh i love the food. Serving fresh vegetables in the tables and eating those with bare hands.. Native meat was delicious serve with wine or you can drink the full barrel of beer as long as you can :).

Having dined here many times in the evening, I chose NALG for a lunch while on a day trip to Paris. The all you can eat and drink menu at 40 euro was probably a bit OTT considering I had a few kilometres to walk afterwards. I went for a confit de canard and chips with a glass of wine.... More

The food is ok all in all. Best elements are the starter buffet and the lemon sorbet. The wine ad libitum is ok as well. What's really nice is the charming waiters and the party going on. Sometimes they have live authentic French music. I'll be back, but not because of the food.

I went here in 2010 and remembered having such a good time that I made sure to visit again when I returned to Paris. The meal was four courses: raw vegetable basket & pasta bar, meat, cheese plate, and dessert (also note: unlimited red wine from a cask). What really makes the experience is the guitarist who sings old French... More

Description
When you step into this timeless venue, you will discover a festive restaurant straight out of a storybook and the imaginary world of Asterix. The success of the well-known concept is based on a simple, but effective idea: long rows of tables, mixed salads, grills and wine served from the barrel, all in gigantic quantities. Also worth mentioning is the outstanding welcome which contributes to the friendly atmosphere.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
