Decorated with plenty Gaulois memorabilia, this restaurant is very exquisite. We've had lunch there right at the 25th December 2015 when most Parisians lunch at their homes, and so, no reservation was required. The menu displays several interesting options, especially of game. If you like it, don't be afraid to order some dish prepared with "sanglier".

First of all, it's all you can drink wine. True, it's just one choice, but it was a perfectly reasonable red. I'm certain I got my 40 Euros worth just in wine. I went with my husband and our two children ages 12 and 9. Our children were given carafes of Orangina and apple juice at no extra charge. We... More

There's no fool like an old fool, they say. And there were certainly plenty of ancient Brits, as well as ancient Gauls, fooling around in this themed party place close to Notre Dame Cathedral. Raw veg and grilled meats, plus as-much-as-you can eat buffet food and limitless wine. Happiest man in the house though must be the strolling minstrel who probably... More

very interesting formula with row vegetables and all you can eat salami as appetizers and then grilled meat ,cheese and dessert. The red wine is on the basis of all you can drink

Someone recommended me this place and here are the clear points. This restaurant is perfect for SNS photos; Environment is amazing, table display, lighting are perfect. HOWEVER, yes. the vege basket on the table looks so very pretty. Yet, they are not very convenient to make salad by ourselves (neither yum). Starters were sausissons and few of this and that;... We had a great evening here with a party of 36 Brits after 4 of us cycling to Paris to celebrate a colleague's birthday. Very relaxed and fun atmosphere. The formula was identical to my visit 20 years ago...fresh salad to start, buffet cold cuts and salads, then meat options for main. We had the added bonus of a birthday... More

So much to eat for just 4. Wish we could bring a large crowd. Wine from a barrel. A full plate with way too much!

Apparently the format of this cave style restaurant has not changed for over 40 years. You get a basket of veg for starters. You can then get as much pate cheese and sausage. Then you choose a main course of chicken, duck or steak which comes with a jacket potato. The veg basket ( huge) can still be utilised. Then a... More

I was recommended this restaurant by the concierge of my hotel and that is actually the single reason I am not giving the hotel top ratings. My wife and I went in, saw the waiter in the plastic viking hat, saw the dark, cave-like rooms with the gaelic music and the menu. We just felt sad and left immediately. This... More

Avoid completely, bad food, totally enclosed and rowdy ambiance. This is not 'typique' french food. Very expensive for the quality of food. Wine on tap was appauling

Description
When you step into this timeless venue, you will discover a festive restaurant straight out of a storybook and the imaginary world of Asterix. The success of the well-known concept is based on a simple, but effective idea: long rows of tables, mixed salads, grills and wine served from the barrel, all in gigantic quantities. Also worth mentioning is the outstanding welcome which contributes to the friendly atmosphere.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
