Though a bit of a wait to get seated, it was very busy, amazing service, super fast and good food especially the truffard. Meat was good and bloody as was ordered. The dessert amazingly good, but what cannot be highlighted enough is the service. It...More

Very friendly, efficient staff. The food was delicious- confit de canard is my recommendation. Not sure why the name is translated to English as it makes it hard to find so I'll recommend 'Le Plombe de Cantal.'

Ordered a Cappuccino, Eggs with Potato and the 22€ Steak here. A bit of paying for location, but the steak was cooked perfectly, the eggs and potato’s were crunchy and not rubbery at all, and the cappuccino tasted like it was made barista style -...More

Auvergne is a cold mountain region in central France, and in cold mountains hearty food is needed. Le Plomb du Cantal showcases hearty Auvergne food in Paris. The signature dish here is aligot, a stringy, garlicky mixture of mashed potatoes and melted cheese that accompanies...More

So glad the hotel directed us to this wonderful restaurant. We had eaten Aligot potatoes at a friend's home in the Midi Pyrenees but without the amazing presentation of a waiter walking to our table still beating the cheese and potatoes together in a copper...More

It really did happen. Trusting local knowledge has its advantages. The Metro was straightforward, three along and six stops down. Rue de la Gaîté was interesting in that there were far more sex shops than restaurants. That’s where the trust comes into play. A few...More

We came between friends at the plomb du Cantal. The aligot is gorgeous and Théo the waiter is one of the best “gars sur” as you say in French. Hope to come back here really soon.

I am not clear why this is an ‘institution’, it’s OK but nothing to write home about. Portions are on the large side and prices very reasonable but every inch of floor is crammed with tables. The food is good without being exceptional. Salads are...More

After several heavy evening meals in Paris, we were after some good salads for dinner. Le Plomb du Cantal didn’t disappoint. The salads were copious and delicious. I ordered the “Saucisse d’Auvergne” with french fries which was good but the sausage was slightly underdone. Also,...More
