We are in Paris for a week, at the end of a 4-month trip around France. Staying in the Gambetta neighbourhood, which is great, colourful and vibrant with lots of cafe/bar/restaurants around. Last night we had a wonderful meal, super-rare steak, great frites, and the most awesome profiteroles later. The service is special; wait-staff are professionals; proud of their work... More

My husband, daughter, son-in-law and I enjoyed a great evening at this quaint typical French neighborhood bistro. My son-in-law loves very rare beef. His beef came out sizzling on a hot stone slab and continues to cook at the table. (Picture taken before he turned the steak.) Served with frites and a tomato. My husband and I had the mussels,... I love this place, every time I'm in paris I'll visit this place. Much because of the delicious Steak tartar that they make. But also because of the good service. If you want a typical parisan bisto where you can eat and drink well I definitly recommend this one. Monseiur Richard being the manager and a gentleman never seems to... More

Great traditional bistro in the 20eme that not many tourists get to. Starter of herring with warm potatoes drizzled with olive oil followed by a steak with goat cheese sauce...to die for! Not cheap but not expensive either. Great staff and service with an old Paris ambiance. Hope no one reads this so I can keep the place all to... More

Forget the famous restaurants, the crowded tourist areas with lousy service. Widen your horizons and try this little gem in the suburbs of Paris. Terrific service even when exceptionally busy (must book by the way). Food was wonderful. Fillet on a hot rock was delicious. The wine selection is also very good. Our waiter was really wonderful considering our attempt... More

We were staying in an apartment nearby and one of the owners recommended this restaurant. I am so glad we went! The restaurant has good service and is family friendly. I had lamb on a skewer and my wife and one son had duck. The other son had steak haché, which is basically hamburger. Everyone was very happy with the... More

We have been here twice during our one week stay near Gambetta. Very friendly staff and excellent food in a very nice, and cosy, restaurant Try the "Confit de canard" - it's super!

Staying in Belleville / Pere Lachaise

Neighborhood Profile
Belleville / Pere Lachaise
At the eastern edge of Paris lies Belleville / Père Lachaise, an understated wonderland of local treasures. Alongside the world-famous cemetery, family-owned delicatessens and cafés nestle between local stores and establishments. The richness of the population here has created a little Chinatown of Asian restaurants, and the area comes to life at night by a funky underground scene. Façades change from one street to another as one passes from white walled provincial homes to tall blocks and reconverted homes. The whole area is an inspirational mix of people from all corners of the world frequented by artists, students, immigrants, and Parisian families. Once home to supporters of the Paris commune, its rebellious nature is now offset by its rural charms.
