The good: wine prices. The bad: Monday night cooking. Perhaps the regular kitchen staffers were elsewhere, but what came out of the Monday night kitchen was dreadful. Maybe Parisian regulars understand this, for they were absent in droves. All present (there weren't that many) were English-speakers. It was our enjoyable visit a few years ago that brought us back; wish... More

Based on a recommendation on David Lebovitz's blog, we decided to try a dinner here. It wasn't the best meal we had while in Paris (6 Paul Bert was), but it was wonderful in its own way. As we don't like to have cigarette smoke mixed with our food, we chose to sit inside. It's a smallish room, but the... More

We had a wonderful meal for 4 here. Food was amazing. Service was great but what really stood out was the quality of the food. We will certainly go back next time we are in Paris.

Very nice restaurant with good food and friendly staff. It was a bit crowded and noisy but the service was fast! Tasty and generous portions! Worth a visit.

Dated restaurant (see the toilets, the decorations or the tables) where everyone sits very close to each other. The first restaurant in Paris where we got charged for water. Food isn't bad, but nothing special either. The waiter (who judging from the pictures on the wall was working there for many years) had a bad day, serving us late and... More

A wonderful Saturday night walk-in. The staff were very friendly and efficient. La Patronne explained the dishes of the day in great detail. Wines of the month were excellent value. Starter, main.cheese and dessert for 30 euros was unbelievable. My partner had poached egg salad starter, I opted for the 2 pates. We both has the duck breast in a... More

We had a really good meal with excellent friendly service. The portions were, if anything, over generous. Egg mayonnaise had been recommended and it was totally unlike the usual fare - really excellent. The coq au vin was also extremely good. Overall we had a very enjoyable evening.

Paris can be a very expensive city in which to eat out. When you find a restaurant that combines great food and wine, superb service at affordable prices it behoves one to share this information with the travelling public. We had heard about la Biche au Bois before leaving Ireland and had it on our list to visit along other... More

Staying near Gare de Lyon we found this restaurant via Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed. I started with a red wine and plum brandy aperitif, which was certainly alcoholic! Followed by escargots, andouille and cheese. The staff were helpful checking that I knew what andouille was! They also were happy to converse in French or English or in my case both!... More

We were two mature couples staying at a nearby hotel that recommended a la Biche. We booked earlier in the day (essential) and joined the queue at 7pm opening time. Two waiters one experienced and one much younger were great. When they discovered our poor french assisted our navigating the menu in English. We went for the formula entre, main,... More
