I adored this place, I went there with my boyfriend the first time he came to visit Paris and we loved it. Even though it was a Saturday night we were seated immediately (we went quite early at about 7.30 and soon there was a small queue outside but the turnover was pretty speedy). We were given a complementary aperitif... More

This was an experience! The food was good, nothing to write home about, but good. Of course, I love cheese, bread, wine and Kir so I LOVED this place. My teenage daughter was with me and she loved it, too! They served her a Kir when we arrived (I gladly took it off her hands) but gave her juice in... More

My experience was in August 2007 with three friends and I wanted to add a review because it was such a memorable time that we talk about even today. It's not the absolute best fondue I've had but drinking wine in baby bottles adds an extra level of entertainment. Our servers were great fun, and the more they filled up... More

This place is fab. Have lived in France a long time and I always recommend friends to go there. Yes u've to jump over a table....they generally get the girls with good legs to do this. It's all in great fun. Cheap n cheerful and indeed, your wine comes in a baby bottle. Hilarious stuff. Love it. I'll be back.

My daughter-in-law wanted to try fondue and since we love Montmatre - we headed for Le Refuge des Fondus!! It's was amazing! They spoke perfect English and they were so friendly and fun. I don't want to spoil the surprise, so I will only say, you will be happily surprised and very very well fed.

We came across this place by pure luck. Great food, great ambience, friendly staff. Loved the fondue and the idea of serving wine in milk bottles! Amazing end to my evening in Paris. 😊

By the other reviews on here it's easy to gather that Le Refuge is unique. From the little drinks at the start, with the entrees and then the main show - the fondue - the whole thing was sublime. Loved the baby bottle wine, and then found out you can buy them too! If you want fondue, go here.

Make a reservation or be prepared to wait and even if you have a reservation you may have to wait. :) Bring cash as they do not accept cards. This was my second visit, my first was five years ago. Same servers and same menu. Lean beef, no veggies, just potatoes (bummer), bread and it is decent. The fun is... More

I live for 5 years in Paris and I think that I've never met an owner/waiter so RUDE as this, and there are a lot!! You have to literally jump over the tables for sitting, because they have to optimaze absolutely all the space with tables, so you're eating with an unknown "neighbor" kicking you in the arm all the... Wine, food and fun - what more could you want? Place small - on both sides of the joint tables. Support helps to go to the wall. After a while you get a sweet wine and appetizers. Once you have them quickly blazing torch and selected fondue already bubbling on your table. Excellent cheese, baguette The exact as soon as... More

Staying in Montmartre

Neighborhood Profile
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colors, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
