A single dish on the menu. If you enter, you eat meat, french fries (thin cut) and a nice special sauce. As much as you want. But quite expensive. Nice choice of various desserts, at a reasonable price for those.
I just had an awful experience at Le Relais de Venise Midtown.
I got there about 7:40 to have dinner with 2 friends. 10 minutes after we were there, it started a strong tropical storm, we tried to move the tables to not get...wet since we were outside.
I asked the waitress if we could go inside to not get wet, but she said it was not allowed, which is completely understandable during this time.
We got totally wet and our drinks as well, it was crazy! For this reason, we decided to get our orders to go instead. The lady was nice and told us she was taking care of the order so we could leave shortly and get out of the rain.
She brought the check, which was $127.00 and I paid and tipped cash.
I JUST got home to finally eat and I cannot believe this is the food I paid for! There’s literally 7 pieces of meat and a couple of fries, NO SALAD!!!
I am so pissed off I spent almost $130 on that! How can you guys treat your customers like this? Where is the salad? Why is the portion so small if it normally comes much more when we’re at the restaurant? I’ve been to the restaurant in Paris and in NYC as well, I know how the portions are served!
This is unacceptable. Specially after what we’ve been through during the storm. You guys should have been more considerate and careful with your customers!
I took pictures if needed.More
What I have experienced here is the worst customer service I've ever had anywhere in the world. I went to this restaurant, the one located in Marylebone. After queuing for a while, we finally got a table. As soon ad we sat down, I swear...it just less than a minute, I checked, the waitress came and start putting pressure on us to order. Well wetried to explain to her we just sat down and need to at least read the menu to decide what drinks to choose. She wouldn't let go and kept talking over us to decide, now in a very rude manner. As there is only 1 dish serve in the menu, we didn't really understand what is it she was all about. We just needed to look at the drink menu to decide. So I asked her why she was being rude. She ignored me and kept telling us that she was very busy and didn't have time to wait for us to order. Then we decide to leave and go to a more respectful place where they value customers. We tried to speak to another member of staff before leaving. She was also rude and even open the door for us to go. Someone will think in this time, where tge hospitality business is under so much pressure, that restaurants staff would value their customers more. But not this place apparently. So I can't really speak for the steak their serve, as I only been served bad service. I would not be coming back.More
While this restaurant does not accept reservations we stood outside in the pouring rain waiting to get in to what we expected would be an amazing meal. We were squeezed into a table for two, and became friends with the couple sitting on either side...of us. We were practically sitting on top of each other, I had no place to put my very small handbag let alone sit properly. The menu is simple, steak and fries. We were sorely disappointed, I think our server must have been a vegetarian because it pained her to serve us the steak, however, she was very generous with the fries. Net/Net I would not recommend this restaurant, it is more hype than substance.More
This restaurant bookended our trip. We went on the first day we arrived and also went on our last night. On both occasions we were met with delicious food and kind service.
Initially, I was a bit concerned as I don't like sauce on my...beef. Well, their green sauce is some sort of delicious, buttery concoction that actually was quite good. There is no menu here. You simply tell them the temperature of your meat, sit back and enjoy. The frites were crispy and delicious. My meat was flavorful, tender and not fatty at all. We had a small bottle of the house red on each occasion and were not disappointed.
Like others have said, try to arrive when they open for dinner, else you will wait. Even if you do end up waiting, it is worth it!More
This was fun! We arrived around half hour before opening and there was a line up already. Fortunately we were able to get in for the first sitting. The tables are very tight together and the are running!! The menu is set, salad, steak and...frites and dessert! Don't ask for your steak to be well done, they will refuse. They serve you at the table and you can have two helpings. The sauce is delicious and great with the frites. Dessert was awesome. We had two, Vacherin Du Relais a tower with chocolate and meringue and Glace Carmel, so good!More
very bad service !
waitress named geraldine is extremely rude ! leave your work to young people ! thank you !
service horrible !
une certaine géraldine extrêmement désagréable ! laissez votre place aux plus jeunes ! merci !
For my family a visit to Paris and lately to Manhattan is not worth the effort unless we dine at Le Relais de Venise. My favorite one is the one located close to the Palais des Congrès on Porte Maillot. What is so soecial about...a small locale with lots of tables and a ling queue to gain access? FOOD and Service, of course.
To begin with there is a menu because the house specialized in one and only one dish. Entrecôte cooked to your taste and swimming in a delightfully rich secret sauce, preceded by a nice salad which contains walnuts (caveat for those alergic to nuts). The waitress will serve a huge quantity of real French fries that together with the sauce will make your trip worthwhile. After you are done you will be regaled with the other half of the beef plus trimmings. Wow!
The dessert chart looks and tastes to good to be true. I would recommend the Profiteroles (chou à la crème) and coffee.
Please do not expect to find a giant many ounces steak with a baked potato because you will not get it. This is not a steak house but a highly specialized and marvelous small restaurant in Paris. As far as I remember reservations are not accepted but waiting outside is part of the mystique of being in Paris and will make the experience more enjoyable.
Grab your bags and bon appetit!More
Great staple of walnut salad starter and steak for main which is excellent. This place does not take bookings and you will be sat much closer to other diners than you might like but it is a really buzzy place. Staff were friendly and efficient...and at Euro 74 for 2 people including a bottle of St Emilion, represents excellent value. Was too full for desert but they looked lovely.More
