The car traffic in front of the bar can be annoying if you're a smoker and want to sit outside. It's quite of a vibrant place for it's size. The servers were great, spoke good English and had nice humor. Had my first ceviche there...which was really good!More

We were recommended by the hotel we are staying in close by to Sur Mer. Beautiful, tasty, freshly cooked food and friendly staff...Will definitely be coming back on our next visit.

Stopped by this seafood restaurant on a Sunday. Sat at the counter facing the open kitchen and the cook. Got all the amazing smells, chatted with the cook, saw everything happen and ate ray for the firs time, so flavorful. Next time will try the...seafood but wished there was more variety in the cooked section. Fresh !More

This restaurant is a true pearl situated close to Place de la Republique. It is small and cosy and serves excellent seafood right from the kitchen besides the tables. We took the full menu and let the chef decide what to serve to us. It...was exciting to see what was coming next in the sequence of 8-10 dishes to share. Go to Sur Mer no matter where you stay/line in Paris.More

New Year's eve treat was a selection of oysters. And this was a good choice - shucked and ready to serve. Fresh and delicious. Will certainly go for an eat in gourmet meal.

Best place where we been. Always busy. You have to reserve table. Not cheap, but if to spend money spend for good fresh sea food.

Sur mer is one of these hidden gems in a city as Paris. The place is not fashion at all, even totally the opposite, but the food is delicate and very good. Just you will be surprised if the prices are a bit high because...the dishes are really small. This is because this exquisite cuisine needs to be tasted slowly with a good white wine. The restaurant offers also a local cidre, really tasty.More

I have visited the restaurant in a business trip alone The room was empty and i was sent anyhow to the bar as apparently the restaurant was fully booked Noone showed while I had my dinner, so I could have seated anywhere The staff is...attentive and the food is good but way below excellent The idea is of a fusion restaurant melting east and west flavours I had oysters and they were very nice, then a tuna tataki japanese style that was a bit dull and lacking kick in taste After i ordered clams on a lobster reduction which was anything but reduced Everything came fast and service was good but the taste was dull There is enthusiasm in the kitchen but a very strong limit: everything is cooked mainly steamed in a fanvy advanced tool, to avoid fumes im a very small and contained environment Cooking is perfect but completely dull like hospital food The surprise came at the bill, where i spent as much as a full blown restaurant everywhere else but not at the same level I would not recommend for the lack of choices ( on the oyster menu especially) and for the limitations in the cooking style - unless you like hospital food.More

The former fish chef at nearby Verre Volé has created a spectacular spot with fresh, fresh seafood dishes you’ll not find elsewhere. It’s also yet on the foreign press foodies’ list for Paris so you’ll be dining with discerning locals. There are limited menu choices...of cooked-when-you order dishes. Sit at the bar to watch it happen. The dishes are well-proportioned: two of us enjoyed two, three-course ‘formules’ which were excellent value at 31€ each. The affable host encouraged us to share. His English is wonderful. We passed on the crab because we didn’t feel like working for our dinner, but an adjacent party of six had donned their gloves and stripped several bare. The dishes arrive in the order chosen by he kitchen based on your choices so you have a leisurely dinner enjoying a range of good wines. Our favorite dish was the cod in a sweetish curry sauce with chard, a combination of tastes and textures that was unusual and memorable. Steamed cockles you don’t get often. You remove all from their shells and devour with a spoonful of broth. Razorback clams came ‘on the half shell’ beautifully steamed and garnished. The tuna tartare was exceptional. The restaurant seats maybe 20 people, with three more tables for two on the sidewalk.More
