Me and my partner we went to this restaurant and because I speak portuguese the waiter only spoke in portuguese leaving my partner who is Australian a little lost. At first we thought that the waiter couldn't speak english but in the end when my partner went to pay the bill he chatted with him and all. I thought it... More

We were looking for an Italian restaurant which we couldn't find and somehow found this place. Lucky us. It was a 100 degrees in Paris while we were there and few restaurants have A/C. This place did and it could've served us water only but it had so much more. A great wine selection. A varied and delicious menu. The... More

Exploring the surroundings of our hotel in Paris we found this lovely Portuguese Restaurant called "Saudade", a meaningful word that only exists in the Portuguese language. It was really attractive, beautifully decorated with Portuguese ceramics, porcelains and mirrors and we didn't have dinner there at that moment because the kitchen was already closed. No problem, we made a reservation for... More

Nice restaurant, centrally located. Quiet and not pretentious with very good food. The bacalao is marvelous the best in Paris. The tables and quite large and far apart for each other so conversation. Is private and the restaurant is quiet, very pleasant. Very good value for money. Also the red wines are very good and not expensive, well recomended by... More

Went to Saudate for the second time with my family tonight May 7th, food is excellent, service is attentive and friendly. Decor is completely out of date (seventies) but it's clean and well kept. Food is typical Portuguese, good variety of bacalhau, would have expected a bit more from the starters (Rissois should be a must!!! :) ) but all... More

Friendly service and good authentic Portuguese food, this is a great choice for those looking for a taste of Portugal. Great lunch menu from Monday to Friday, my only complaint about this restaurant is that they don't serve Ameijoas ao Bulhao Pato or traditional Portuguese bread. Recommended

Its always nice to find some real Portuguese food when you are far from home. Found this 30 year old restaurant near our hotel, and was surprised with the quality of the food and the service. Starting with the pasteis de bacalhau, through to the carne a alentejana and bacalhau a bras. Deserves another visit.

When in Paris, we rarely miss going to this Portuguese restaurant. It is easy to find (metro Chatelet), the welcome is always friendly and the tables are not too close to each other so that you can talk and not be disturbed. But we obviously go for the interesting menu and the quality of the food. Not to talk of... More

Staying in Les Halles

Neighborhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
