I had a good review from a foodie friend and went to Le Timbre. The restaurant is tiny, but the food makes up for it! Best venison ever! Friendly staff and Chef! It is a fixed-menu, I chose the 3 course dinner and was very happy with it. Compliments to the Chef! No way you can get a table without... More

the restaurant seating area is tiny and crowded, the kitchen as well. The food is prepared by the chef and a single assistant, both washing dishes as needed. Everything has to be done very efficiently in that tiny place. The host/waiter/Sommelier is very welcoming and seems to be in complete control. The restaurant is very crowded but food that comes... This is a really excellent dining experience. I went expecting to receive a great meal from a great chef and I couldn't be happier. Go prepared to let the small staff present you with possibly the meal of a lifetime.

Went to this small bistrot near Blvd. Montparnasse with friends from Belgium. As the name implies, it is quite tiny so it gives the true cramped feeling of such a small establishment. Decor is nothing to speak of. Service was fine. My problem was the menu was very limited (in our case basically a choice of a slow cooked egg... More

This small restaurant is a gemstone. Cuisine and Service are in great harmony. The server Claudia is competent, friendly: exceptional.

This small (as the name suggests!) restaurant was recommended by the manager at Hotel des Academies et des Arts, a nearby hotel that is to be equally recommended. The menu is whatever this excellent chef decides for that particular day and his choice was superb, although not a Michelin Star restaurant the food was equal to that, the service from... More

We made reservations a few weeks in advance for this cozy spot, where you can watch the chef cook in the tiny kitchen. It's incredible what he can do in such a small space. This is a tasting menu restaurant, 3 or 4 courses, with a special or two that can be subbed in. The food was incredible! I've never... More

Le Timbre is a Paris favorite not to be missed. We now make our reservation online before we fly into Paris. We always feel as if we have stepped into a perfect, tiny one-chef culinary paradise. The textures and flavors, the presentation, the atmosphere all make our few hours at Le Timbre interesting and deeply satisfying. The prix fixe price... More

Admit it, Yanks. We love to fine dine in Paris and we love to eavesdrop. Le Timbre offers both. Cozy, yet stimulating conversations abound. It is on the same block as the Hotel Ste. Beauve, fabulous boutique hotel, same name as the street, and so convenient for a stumble home after a great wine and dine. Meats and fishes cooked... More

I've been to Le Timbre twice now (even though I have an insurmountable list of restaurants I want to explore) and on both occasions the rapport qualité-prix has been extraordinary. I don't think I've been anywhere where the same quality and inventiveness has not cost me at least the double. The portions might be a bit on the small side... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
