We ate at Le Timbre on our last night in Paris and it was the best meal I ate. Very tiny restaurant, very limited menu, only a few choices. The starter was a white tuna tartare on a pool of tomato water and a dollop of soft cheese on top, the flavors were subtle but amazing. Main course was veal,... More

Tiny little place (as a stample - timbre), with only a few tables. The menu is tiny as well, only 2 appetizers / main / desserts, changing often, which guarantees well-executed fresh food. The quality is excellent, and nice wine list. Very friendly service.

Very small venue seats approximately 24.Our server, the only one, handled the room professionally and efficiently. We had a white tuna tatare that was devine and hake fish that may have been even better. My wife prefers not to eat red meat and they readily accommodated our request. Can not recommend highly enough!!!

Again, we were able to eat here, due to our hotel getting an early evening (7:30PM) reservation. A small restaurant, where a lot of care and thought is put into the preparation of each and every dish. Friendly staff, helpful for those of us who were not proficient in French.

Le Timbre is tiny and has a very small menu with limited choice but the food is lovingly and carefully prepared. The staff is very friendly. The preparation is modern French.

When we arrived (no reservation) the place was closed (big gate, looked deserted). It was open according to both tripadvisor and their own Facebook page...

“Timbre” means postage stamp. And the name is totally appropriate. There are 11 tables for two each, arranged in two rows, barely an inch apart. The kitchen is hardly larger than a postage stamp. But what glorious food! There is a set menu: starter, choice of two main courses, dessert. In fact, I was surprised that, with that tiny kitchen,... More

Charles Danet turns out wonderful 3 (36 euro) or 4 (43 euro) course meals while Agnes Peyre manages the front and acts as matri d, waitress, sommelier, etc. Portions are ample (3 courses would have been plenty) but we decided to be adventurous and share a "show cooked" half pigeon (our first). Simply outstanding!

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
