Relaxed and cozy place. Not at all classic, it seems a blend of pub and bistrot. Quite good service and varied menu. Great onion soup.

It was a good experienece. Good price quality relation. It is a typical Parisin restaurant. We ordered o onion soup and entrecote, the quality of the food was good.

One for the night owls. This traditional very very French restaurant is open all night. We had good oysters and other traditional fares to remember. They also have the almost forgotten practice of "vin a la ficelle": they bring a bottle of wine and only pay for the amount you drink. The wines are excellent by the way. The owner... More

Was a national holiday and looking for a place to eat at night with my girls. Walked around and noticed that there were actually people eating at Le Tambour (Unlike all the restaurants around the street that all looked pretty empty) so we decided to stop there to grab a bite to eat. The food was decent. My girlfriends had... More

Just had dinner last monday with some friends and my wife. Nice staff, excellent onion soup, not bad trotters, in the end good value for money option near chatelet-les halles!

We were 7 adults looking for a place to have dinner, fairly early in the evening, on a weekday. We went into Le Tambour. The host at Le Tambour insisted on putting 7 of us adults at a table, in the back, that was set rather tightly for 6 people. Keep in mind, it was early in the evening and... More

Had a quick lunch there and it was quite good. although asked for a medium rare steak and it came almost well done. The burger as well we asked for a medium and it was well done. Tartare was great. Everything was fresh and neatly presented. Price decent and over all a pleasure.

This bar/restaurant was packed with an after work crowd tonight. I was delighted to get one of the few free seats, unfortunately, it was downhill from there... I couldn't catch a waiter's attention and when I did he walked away and said he'd come back, which he didn't. I tried again with another waiter to no avail, eventually the first... More

The food is pretty decent as far as French bistro food goes, don't expect to be blown away but the couple of times I went I had good steak and chicken dishes. The atmosphere however is particularly lovely, it's one of the few late late night bars in Paris - I haven't been and found it shut - and it's... More

While the people were friendly, the service and food preparation time were very slow, and it was difficult to catch anyone's attention to ask them about it. This place is a wee bit scruffy but the wine is nice and the food is hearty, to say the least, and relatively inexpensive. Fine for lunch other places nearby are full or... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighborhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighborhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theaters, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
