Le Severo's steak frites came highly recommended (despite some mixed reviews) and we asked our hotel to ring and book for us to avoid language issues. It didn't disappoint. It's a small, simple restaurant and the waiters may seem gruff, but they warmed up and seemed to appreciate the efforts we made with our limited French. The food was indulgent... More

Another temple for meat, and one of the best in town so do not hesitate to cross Paris for a meal there. The last time I have really enjoyed eating meat like at Severo was in Buenos Aires, so a very long time ago and it was worth the trip. Even if the service can be rough, and they are... More

No matter what people write or say, this is one of the top meat places in Paris. It may not have the best deco or the friendliest staff but that's a genuine meat-lovers place. Love it or leave it; it's just genuine.

My wife and I were recently in Paris for our honeymoon. I made all of the dinner reservations and wanted to have great steak frites one night. I made the decision to have our steak night dinner at Le Severo based upon great reviews of the food from various travel food websites (but didn't check TripAdvisor). The day we were... More

A very small place on a small street but worth hunting down. Seats about 25 lucky people who have found not only the best steak in Paris but perhaps in the world. The owner is a former butcher and the cook, perhaps since the menu is very limited and meat-heavy, prepares the meat to perfection. When they don't ask you... More

Well let us begin on the service . It was bad really bad the waiters were awful and talking at us like we were idiots . The food was average for the price it was BAD. 21€ for a freaking tartare which made us sick after. The guy was talking us as we cannot cook the meat and that is... More

A restaurant door boasting Michelin and Zagat awards creates certain expectations for a guest, as does an entry in Patricia Wells' book on her favorite Parisian eateries. When ordering a 62 euro bottle of wine, one expects to be presented with the bottle, see it uncorked, and poured a taste for approval. When ordering dry-aged steak for two at the... More

Very disappointing meal for my wife and me. While our salads were good, the dry-aged steak for which Le Severo is known, was tough. When I say "tough," I mean that I had to saw at it with the steak knife. I know that the owner is a former butcher, but there is no way that he can be proud... More

I dont know what all these review people find in this place. No charm, extremely rude attitude and average meat. I have done dry aging myself and been in steak places around the world and if You think You get something worth the value there- youre wrong. Its not that You cant eat beef there, You can, bit it wont... More

No frills, limited menu, but if you want a great perfectly cooked steak and fab frites, this is the place. Don't skimp on wine - and ask for recommendations if needed. Wonderful collection of burgandies, rhone, and bordeaux. Last time we were there I had the filet (as opposed to the faux filet). tender, yummy - fresh rasberries for dessert.... More

Staying in Montparnasse

Neighborhood Profile
Montparnasse
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the center of Paris this neighborhood has something for every hour of the day.
