Located on one of the Grand Boulevards near the Opéra, Le Grande Café Capucine is a great way to experience traditional french cuisine. The room is a fabulous example of Art Nouveau - a work of art by itself. Allow yourself a few hours for your meal - not the kind of place you want to rush or be rushed.... More

Such a waste of money. I visited here with my sister three days ago. And we had a menu grand cafe. The entreé was too salty and the plat was disappointing too. The price is too overrated for the quality of food. I've lived in paris for several months and have visited lots of restaurant but it was the worst.... More

The restaurant delivers on the Parisian Bistro experience with its hearty dishes, location, and historic setting. The atmosphere is classic French bistro with the building dating to the 19th century and decorated with an outstanding stained glass ceiling. The dishes are up the equal of the setting and reflect traditional French Bistro dishes. Our dishes included the French onion soup,... More

The food here was expensive and the portions was small. However we decided to try it to experience French food. The location is very close to the Opera. We tried some scallops and lamb dishes. It was okay experience. The staff was efficient but did not exhibit enough warm personal attitudes.

Wonderful decor. Call ahead for reservations -- ask for a window seat if you're two. Food very good, especially the starters: escargot and oysters are excellent. Mains are good, but not as exceptional as starters. Service is generally good. Very polite at dinner. Tried it for breakfast once or twice -- overpriced for average fare. Service indifferent.

The restaurant has a lot of choice. You can come and eat almost the whole day. It is very crowdy but the waiters are still very friendly. This is not at all a cheap restaurant, but you should visit it at least once in a lifetime.

If you want to visit a traditional looking French cafe, this will be a good place. However, the food is just average. They do have a set lunch menu at 24€.

Great sea food and great service by the guy who looks like John Turturro. We was already several times there and will come back soon.

I used to frequent this restaurant on the 90s when I was living in Paris. The inside décor didn't change at all and the food still very good.

The restaurant's refined decor is a faithful illustration of the Art Nouveau style, with its original mosaics and its crystal Saint-Louis chandeliers a truly Parisian institution located on the Place des Ternes. The head chef prepares a refined, traditional French cuisine using the freshest ingredients. An immensely popular restaurant with both Parisians and discerning tourists, who appreciate beautifully prepared food.

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighborhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighborhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theaters, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
