We had dinner at Le Grand Cafe Capucines on our first night in Paris and loved the theatre of the decor and service. The food was very good, the restaurant specialises in fresh fish and shellfish, and had particularly good oysters. An expensive but very good meal in an amazing setting.

Among the 14000 restaurants in Paris, some ar just more Parisian than others. This one is almost an epitome of Parisian life as we all like to think of it. Although without the often seen downsides of bullying waiters and classical Parisian arrogance. We got a table in the glass terraced part - the most attractive place, I guess, as... More

I really feel comfortable every time I visit this brasserie. Whether I sit indoors or outdoors even on the cold weather it is well heated. The food is very good as well as the service. No complaints there, friendly atmosphere for drinks or dining. A good place for families.

I went here for an early diner (17h) and it was a good choice. The waitress was very friendly, she showed me how to eat a Mille feuille which can be challenging and did her best to take a photo of me. The restaurant is beautiful with lots of stained glass. Unfortunate not much of a view as buses park... More

I really did not know what rating to give this place since we only stopped for late afternoon coffee. We ended up getting hot chocolate, which they presented in a lovely fashion- hopefully you can see the photo. Two small pitchers, one with thick chocolate (barely sweet- you may have to ask for sugar), and another with frothy milk. You... More

Beautiful set price menu. Efficient service. beautifully warm on a freezing evening. We had oysters - best I have had in a while, and sea bass which was lovely. We didn't book and managed to get a table quite easily but it was only 5.30 and even then it was very busy so probably best to book if you are... More

A great restaurant behind the Opera in Paris. A straightforward place with excellent food and good service. Try the oysters, and then have some very good fish

Located on one of the Grand Boulevards near the Opéra, Le Grande Café Capucine is a great way to experience traditional french cuisine. The room is a fabulous example of Art Nouveau - a work of art by itself. Allow yourself a few hours for your meal - not the kind of place you want to rush or be rushed.... More

Such a waste of money. I visited here with my sister three days ago. And we had a menu grand cafe. The entreé was too salty and the plat was disappointing too. The price is too overrated for the quality of food. I've lived in paris for several months and have visited lots of restaurant but it was the worst.... More

The restaurant's refined decor is a faithful illustration of the Art Nouveau style, with its original mosaics and its crystal Saint-Louis chandeliers a truly Parisian institution located on the Place des Ternes. The head chef prepares a refined, traditional French cuisine using the freshest ingredients. An immensely popular restaurant with both Parisians and discerning tourists, who appreciate beautifully prepared food.

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighborhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighborhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theaters, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
