The food was excellent. Price above the average - depends of what to order. The service is very good, so is the selection of wines. As the menu is only in French - we needed some body to translate and explain it. The first waiter was not very patient even rude. But we were rescued very quickly by another nice... More

Every visit to Paris should (resources permitting) include a meal at one great, long-established restaurant, and it's hard to imagine a better choice than Le Dome. A onetime Hemingway hangout (another, the bar/cafe Le Select, is across the street), this one has it all: brilliant seafood, some unrecognizable but all perfectly prepared; service by patient, knowledgeable (and English-speaking) waitstaff; and... On a rainy Sunday, we went here for lunch. The restaurant is old-school decorated, lots of fancy lights and drapes. We got a shellfish platter for two. It could have easily served four. Contained several types of oysters and clams, escargot, whelks, several types of shrimp, and crabs. If you want to feast on shellfish, this is the dish for... More

Familiar from books such as Hemingway's "A Movable Feast", I found this to be a charming sea food restaurant. The helpful waiter with impeccable English made the evening very enjoyable.

I was in this restaurant about ten years ago that time it was very good ; they still serve nice fish But they need to redress themselves and maybe adjust the prices a bit . We liked most of what we ordered they were very much in hurry because it was 2.0 pm ! If you are in Paris and... More

This is definitely one of the best places I have had seafood. I had the monkfish in a mushroom based sauce and asparagus. It was definitely worth the money. let me warn you that this place is expensive - but its worth the splurge once in a while.

If you love seafood you must try Le Dome. Their selection of oysters is top and their fish selection is also to die for. Since we could not decide which ones to pick we went for a sampler of 6 kinds of oysters they had on the menu (they were all excellent but I especially loved the Tserkaya's and Gillardeau's).... We visited Le Dome for our 5th wedding anniversary and very nice it was too! Couple of points though - some reviews state it's formal wear. It's far from this. We arrived dressed up (hubbie wore a tie) and felt decidedly overdressed. Also the tables are a bit close to each other but it didn't bother us. We ordered 12... More

Staying in Montparnasse

Neighborhood Profile
Montparnasse
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the center of Paris this neighborhood has something for every hour of the day.
