Lived in the area for many years, went to the Bistrot du Peintre a dozen times and was never disappointed, and all my friends enjoyed the fiid and service. One of the oldest bistrots, if not the oldest, in Paris, great decor, great service and awesome food.

This is not a flashy restaurant. What it is is an authentic bistro selling well-cooked, reasonably priced food to locals and tourists alike. The service is attentive, the atmosphere is relaxed and the overall experience is markedly better than other establishments charging twice the price.

I came to Paris over a year ago and ate here and I haven't really stopped thinking about it. It was filled mostly by locals, rather than tourists and the wine and food were absolutely outstanding and extremely well priced. I am literally booking another trip to Paris so I can eat the duck once again.

Friday evening, 7:00 pm. I always ask for a table in French, the waiter always answers in English. An area teaming with restaurants, I chose this because it looks like a bistrot should. Offered the choice of inside or outside and instantly provided with a menu. Selected from the specials displayed on the blackboard and a jug of reasonably priced... More

Dinner here was lovely and relaxed. Food: Salmon piccata (pictured): served with wild rice and shredded crispy leek. Delicious as all the flavours and textures worked well together. Duck: cooked well and not dry. Nice fruity sauce served and lots of tasty potatoes. Chocolate Cake: this was a molten cake served with vanilla ice cream - ok Wine: Ordered white... More

We went here four times in 5 days. It was just such a typical Parisian cafe with real atmosphere. Excellent service when just drinking, and brilliant food when eating. All in a wood paneled interior with cherubs painted on the ceiling! Great value and the opportunity to watch the world go by. Highly recommended in a non-touristy area.

We had a great meal for two here. Quality of food was good as was the service. The menu is only in french so if you are not french speaking have a look a translate before you go, maybe. The venue itself is really interesting and has a good french vibe to it. I checked access for wheelchairs and buggies... More

Very nice Parisian atmosphere, well prepared food that comes in big portions and normal prices. If you like to taste new things give the house rum prepared with spices a try.

We decided to eat quite late in the afternoon and thankfully the kitchen was still open. 3 of us dined. I had a Chicken dish with wild rice and a mild curry sauce - delicious. My friend had Steak Tartare and said it was great. My other friend had a burger - it had to best back as it was... More
