We only had breakfast here but felt like it was our local because it was close to our Hotel and we often stopped for coffee in the afternoon as well. Very welcoming.

Only a few streets south of the Seine yet this place seems to be mainly for locals. They still close for the grandes vacances for the month of August. Have eaten here many times and have not had a bad meal. Some have been better than others. On this visit the lamb and the steak were both excellent. Some of... More

Having heard good things about this place, we took some out-of-town friends there for what we thought would be a nice French-traditional meal in a classical brasserie setting. In all honesty, the food wasn't bad at all, and the setting is indeed quite classical. But those positives were overwhelmed by the amazingly amateurish and inconsiderate service. 1) The waiter poured... More

Family and I attended the restaurant last night and felt totally let down The arrogance of the waiters really needs to be experienced We tried to order a beef meal and the waiter refused to accept the order telling us that we needed to have veal We told him we did not want veal Well guess what the arrogant waiter... The food was very good, but the service was abrupt and arrogant. Likely will not return as there are innumerable choices of places to eat in this neighborhood.

We had the salad for entree which was excellent. We also had veal which was cooked well but basically a stew type dish. I had a pasta entree which was also very good. I had the fish which came with loads of spinach. The fish was ok but overall a bit plain. Very prompt service. Ok for a nice dinner... More

There are several touristy little places for lunch near the museum, but we were looking for a place with more locals. This was a great find, Lovely and cozy inside, and surrounded by fun antique shops, we relaxed with a beautiful two course lunch, a bottle of Sancerre, and finished with Capuccino before wandering the little side streets of the... We were tired and asked for a bistro w lovely ambiance and food but low pretentious attitude . From the warm vegetable salad to the cassoulet it was wonderful. While the wait staffs English was limited they were extremely patient about explaining the menu. And the ambiance was all we could ask for !

Fine French food in a cozy setting Great attentive staff kept the table full of bread and wine. Meals were carefully prepared. Large menu of options all prepared fresh but fast.

Our hotel recommended this restaurant and we were pleasantly excited about the authentic French menu. Our food was excellent as we selected broccoli soup, a pasta and skate as our entree. However, the maitre de and waiter could not have been less interested in our dining experience. Although there were several empty tables, we were rushed through our meal barely... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
