le baratin could not exist anywhere but Paris. its quirky funkiness would surely annoy me in New York, but tucked into the 20th next to an odd little hotel and across the street from a gallery whose show during my visit was a bunch of...More

We had read many things about this place (sort of a mixed bag) and were intrigued by the simplicity of the menu and its somewhat "cult" status according to reviews. Contrary to some of the reviews, the husband who works the house, was cordial and...More

According to my very knowledgable friend Le Baratin on Rue Jouye Rouve was supposedly the forerunner of the Bistro revolutionary approach to dining which is now so commonplace in Paris. Le Baratin is apparently a place where Parisian chefs eat. Owner Raquel Corina is supposedly...More

A small bistro, the type where the chef writes the menu on a blackboard. There were two main dishes, about 6 appetizers and two desserts. Nothing was above average yet the place was packed. It is located in a far off neighborhood.

Argentine Chef Raquel Carena adds her own touch to classic bistro cooking at this Belleville institution, which also features one of the best organic and natural wine lists in the city. A larger assortment of fish and vegetable options on the ever-changing chalkboard menu will...More

We had a wonderful meal. My wife had the Salmon and I had beef. The service was friendly and efficient. Even the grumpy owner smiled by the end of dinner. The wine list was interesting and reasonable priced.

Le Baratin is not only delicious, with interesting fresh dishes on the blackboard, but has a varied wine list with great value. This place has a great ambiance, lively and is affordable given Parisian prices! Cannot wait to go back!

Brush up on your French. Menu written daily for lunch then dinner on chalk board. I would go to Paris again just to eat here. The gazpacho was wonderful! The peaches in yogurt were heavenly!

This is obviously a place met with mixed feelings. Locals seem to love it, while visitors wonder why. Count us as visitors. Staying in Ménilmontant, we went for lunch, as did a mix of locals and visitors on this moderately busy day for the restaurant....More

Belleville / Pere Lachaise
At the eastern edge of Paris lies Belleville / Père
Lachaise, an understated wonderland of local
treasures. Alongside the world-famous cemetery,
family-owned delicatessens and cafés nestle between
local stores and establishments. The richness of the
population here has created a little Chinatown of
Asian restaurants, and the area comes to life at night
by a funky underground scene. Façades change from one

Fo the Le Baratin restaurant? or for my restaurant? I am sorry for the confusion. I happen to own a restaurant but this is a review I did about Le Baratin, so that is why I am not sure what do you mean madam.
