We have now had three meals at this lovely little bistro near the Luxembourg Gardens. The Zagat guide suggested that it was the perfect restaurant in the perfect neighborhood. This description pretty much hits the mark. The welcome, atmosphere, food, and service are all special. I have ordered different items each time and have always been satisfied. If your hotel... A very small restaurant that filled rapidly so a reservation is needed. The patrons were primarily middle aged Americans which made it seem like we were still in the US. The food was nice but not amazing. Good value with good wine choices. English menus provided and the waiter spoke English. A safe choice for tourists.

My wife and I had dinner here on our last night in Paris. The Restaurant was small and cozy. Like most restaurants in Paris, the menu was limited, but several selections looked appealing. We were pleasantly surprised and delighted with our meals! The Sea Bass with Risotto was excellent. My Steak with mixed vegetables was tender and full of flavor.... More

Reservations a must at this tiny place -- the food was very good but not as spectacular as I had been led to believe. The service was a little slow, too. Still, a pleasant evening,

Reservations strongly suggested. Friendly, intimate, reasonable and just phenomenal food. On a one-week stay my family wanted to go back every night the place was so great. Lots of locals, everyone speaking French. Wait staff speaks enough English and is very good about explaining specials. Go if you get the chance.

We can hardly wait until our next trip to Paris so we can go back to this fabulous restaurant. While the staff does not always speak English ....we are in France after all, and should be prepared to know a bit of the language to avoid misunderstandings....We have eaten here several times and have nothing but the highest recommendation. It... More

This restaurant doesn't look anything special, but wait until the food arrives! I liked the under played decor, elegant but without character, and appreciated that the background music was Mozart, and very quiet, instead of intrusive thumping pop music. The two waiters were friendly and obviously able to speak a little English, but we preferred French and appreciated the patient... More

We have been to Paris dozens of times and ten years in the gourmet food business had the unfortunate combination raising our standards, but not our ability to pay for expensive meals. So we do research, lots of it. After eight days in Paris, it looked like rain, so we read the reviews and decided to try La Maison du... More

AVOID - they have learned to try to take advantage of their popularity with tourists. I was very disappointed that they obviously had developed several tricks to deploy to scam tourists. Examples: - I was given different pricing than offered on the French menu and upcharged $15 for glass of wine which was offered as included with one of the... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
