My family and I wanted to dine away from the touristy areas, and stumbled across La Gazelle quite by chance. The street is quiet and facade humble, while the interior is West Africa circa 1985. The patrons are primarily West Africans, which we took to be a good sign. While the service was not world class, the wait staff were... More

Right next door to our hotel (Hotel Monceau Wagram) and a great choice for our first meal in Paris. This was lunch, and they had the usual midday "plat" specials. We were the only non locals eating there and it became very lively with many Camerounian friends of the owner dropping in for lunch. The owner and waiters don't speak... More

We had just arrived on an early plane from Singapore and after a "complicated" arrival process at Charles de Gaulle we unpacked at our hotel - Monceau Wagram. Just next to the hotel was La Gazelle. Nice decor, reasonable service, good value for money on the three course lunch special. Good entrées (stuffed crab and a vegetable salad). Plats -... More

After experiencing Padron, the tapas restaurant in Budapest, I decided to launch a systematic study to explore whether advertised authenticity has any value for the actual customer, or is it a simple trick to win more visitors and more money... or is it a declaration of the type… like “Prelude and Fugue” or “East Coast Rap”, in another dimension of... Just dropped by this place after a late night arrival in Paris. First of all I gotta say that I love a place which serves food even if its' 01 o'clock at night. The service is somewhat slow, and we had to manage with a lot of body language, as they did only speak little english, and we were equally... More

There were seven of us and we got there late on a Monday night but, hey, this is Paris where the great dining is open tres late. We were not in the least disappointed, everything from the salade with avocat to the potato "bon bons" (what I called them) to the grilled tilapia (we tore it apart!) and the highlight,... More

The Gazelle of Cameroon, this is a little bit of France once upon a time in its colonies. Any african person with a bit of success there or there may come here from the politicians to the soccer stars and the musicians. African food with quality and seems to be fresh, enormous or reasonable portions of food, so this is... More

The food and service at La Gazelle were outstanding. There was a group of approximately 20 of us and noone had a complaint about the food. I can only speak for myself, however, and say that if I am ever in Paris again, I will go back to La Gazelle.

My wife and I ate here in December 09. My chicken appeared to be three chicken carcases draped in an onion sauce but with very little meat attached. My wife's fish tasted like mackeral and she left most of it uneaten. Perhaps our choice was the problem but it seemed to us that they had chosen to purchase the lowest... More
