Great cuisine next to Odeon, Paris

Arrived without reservation, but luckily we got places in an almost 'full house' for a quick lunch. Friendly staff served us and the meal was fine at under 60 EUR for two of us. Highlights: welcome baguette with tapenade, veloute de lentilles, terrine de canard fig chutney. The espresso was a... read more

My wife and I ate there twice during the past week after our experiences there four years ago. At each visit we 60-70 something Americans were treated with warmth, deference, and professionalism; my efforts in halting French were cordially received and we see-sawed back and forth in English and French all evening. On our first visit we were accompanied by... More

It is not easy to fid a good restaurant in Paris on Sunday evening; you can run to this one and enjoy original courses, as starters or main courses. The deserts looked very good, especially the pastilla and the "Millefeuille", but we enjoyed so much what we had that we could not induldge ourselves with more. The wine list offers... More

We ate at this restaurant about 5 years ago for the first time and have been back with each visit to Paris. The service is wonderful and the food is great! Jan, the manager, goes above and beyond to accommodate guests. The chocolate mole cake with the hazelnut ice cream is out of this world. The prices are very reasonable... More

Certainly I will be in the minority here, but I feel I must share my experience. I realize two fifty-plus American women are not terrible chic, but the manager took pains to ridicule our dietary needs (gluten-free and vegetarian). My friend thought her risotto tasted odd and was ill that evening. I had the tuna and was fine. I would... More

We spent a lovely last night in Paris here. The servers were attentive but unobtrusive. Our main courses were very good (bouillabaisse, and a snail and pasta dish). We shared a molten chocolate cake with ice cream for dessert which was excellent. Unlike many other Paris restaurants, it was quiet (despite a large party that was in progress on the... More

The restaurant is quite nice upon entering and the greeting was warm and friendly but then we were served by a young lady who was very miserable. The starters were ok. Quite good portions but didnt wow. For mains we both opted for steak and again it was just ok. We have never been less vocal about a meal. Usually... More

3 of us had dinner last night and we all agreed it was one of the worst meals we have ever eaten in Paris. A fixed 30E for a choice of 2 courses...a shellfish dish that was barely edible in fact left uneaten...a vegetable pasta risotto that was very ordinary and an entree of eggplant with ricotta that was tasteless...it... Highly recommended. The food is superb, the service attentive but not obtrusive. The food is cooked with skill and finesse, but without superfluous frills. A selection of reasonably-priced wines. I try to come here at least a couple of times a month when in Paris.

This was our favorite dinner in Paris during our five night stay. The ingredients were fresh and presented in a unique but accessible way. Our teenage children enjoyed a simple chicken and potatoes while we each had an herb risotto along with a salmon and potato starter and cauliflower soup. The desserts were also beautifully prepared and delicious. The passion... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
