Like one of the previous reviewers, I too have been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years and it does not disappoint. While the menu is not terribly creative - the food is always dependable and quite good. I have brought family and business associates here and everyone seems to love it! I highly recommend the warm chocolate cake... More

I've been eating here since 1995, the food and service consistently good. We bring our friends here, as the establishment is geared towards mid sized groups! Everyone has raved about the meal. The first floor room is very cozy. Good wine list. It has never disappointed!

We came for lunch on a day in August where many Parisian places were closed. We took the cheapest menu, a two course menu "parlementaire". Service was good, what we ate was satisfactory, the place was full and not noisy. This is not an exciting place but a very reliable one.

We were thrilled with this restaurant. The food was delicious and, most important, the offerings were unlike anything we saw at comparable places. They even had several vegetarian options, in addition to pasta, seafood, etc. -- not just cuts of meet with the meager showing of vegetables we found elsewhere. I loved my squids in penne, and my mother said... More

On our final night in Paris we walked a short way from our hotel near the Luxembourg Gardens to this small restaurant for a farewell dinner. We were greeted warmly, seated comfortably and a menu arrived shortly after. Our meals were excellent and beautifully presented. We would certainly return on another visit.

Staying in St Germain-des-pres, we stumbled upon this lovely restaurant specialising in the food of the South of France. We were intrigued by the menu and decided to give it a try. Fresh seasonal produce like white asparagus and nougat de Roquefort were a highlight of the meal and staples of the Sud like bouillabaisse did not disappoint. Good wine... More

Swift and courteous service, I had the three-course menu with eggplant (not sure why this starter is served lukewarm), scorpion fish (excellent crispy skin, bland taste), and "caffé gourmand" (recommended). The seating is very tight, not more than 20 cm. between tables (downstairs). The bill was higher than I had anticipated, my mistake, the fixed price menu offered on a... More

I visited on a Saturday and was pleasantly suprised to see that the cheapest lunch menu, ironically called "parlementaire" (the restaurant is close to the Senate and its members are known for their luxury taste), which costs only 19. 90 euros for two courses and offers reasonable choice was available. I ordered it, had as starter a good melon plate,... More

This is an example of why it is hard to review a place where you've only been to once, and the experience wasn't good enough to warrant a return. First of all, service is very good, and so is the décor. Our appetizer, an aubergine millefeuille, was superb. My bouillabaisse and my husband's shrimp dish was decent. Did we simply... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
