We've been to most restaurants in the area over the years but have never tried L'Orangerie before. We fancied a quieter, more relaxed experience and this proved to be a good pick. The service was exceptional and the food was well-prepared French classics (beef fillet, grilled sea bass, rack of lamb, chocolate cream etc). The price was reasonable. Other good... More

Hummm. For several years now we've made a point of having dinner on our last evening in Paris at this heretofore very good restaurant. We've always considered it a strong "B+" but it slipped to a "C" or "C-" this year. Perhaps because we flew out on a Monday. We don't know if our Sunday night experience was an anomaly... More

Lovely small French restaurant that actually embraces Americans. Had cassoulet of fish, not the usual and expected cassoulet. Fabulous and fresh with lots of vegetables! My husband had braised leg of lamb. Food, delicious. Service, the best from Alice. We will return.

Wonderful service with excellent menu offerings of three courses for $35 for dinner. Wine list is not extensive but is very good and not outrageously priced. Had a wonderful gazpacho with pesto ice cream in the middle. Would go back for that alone. Definitely will return. Do yourself a favor and eat here for some very good food only a... More

One of our favorite restaurants "on island"--we returned there twice and to another restaurant they own just next door. Quirky atmosphere with video motif combined with a traditional Parisian bar and tables...you'll enjoy the waiter...

Mid afternoon the three of us had the restaurant to ourselves. Food fantastic and our waiter was so attentive. Would highly recommend finding this gem, you could walk past it easily *****

We have been in an apartment near L'Orangerie and 18 other restaurants on our four block street on Il Saint-Louis. We rate it among the top three.

We spent 3 days and 2 nights at the L'orangerie from 20 to 22 May 2016 for the wedding and reception of my nephew. The ambiance is great, stunning place and far from the madding crowd. Tranquille atmosphere just opposite Seine river. The gardens are outstanding , well-taken care and the owners are so sympa and service-oriented. we loved the... More

We recently ate here on our first trip to Paris. It was right up the street from our apartment. The decor was beautiful without being overly formal. Delicious food, courteous service, an all-around lovely experience.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
