I had lived close to this restaurant a while back and always wanted to eat there. We booked online, which was useful and received text messages to remind us. Fortunately we arrived shortly before a large group that filled the restaurant. We both chose the €39 four course fixed menu and a glass of house Chardonnay. The first course. My... More

Last nite of a one month long European journey ended with a dinner at L'Ilot Vache on the Ile Saint Louis. Arrived at 7:30 and were greeted immediately. Actually no one had arrived before us. Had a great table for 4 by the window. Meal was superb. All of us chose the Prix Fixe 39E dinner and it was outstanding.... More

Eclectic decor. Beautiful flowers. Charming staff. Fantastic food. Timely service. We ate from Le Menu - escargots/chef's tagine, lamb/boeuf bourguignon, cheese, bread pudding/creme brûlée. Fabulous meal. Would highly recommend.

The very best! I've been going to Paris for almost 1/2 century, and the Ile St. Louis is my favorite spot...site of my favorite hotel and good dining. But only this spring did I discover Restaurant L'ilot Vache. Best food ever: imaginative and exquisite. The setting on the rue Saint-Louis-en-I'lle is incomparable and the interior decor is so very tasteful...preserving... More

This restaurant on L'Ile St.-Louis was a wonderful find. The goofy but friendly owner made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped into the restaurant, and our server picked up where he left off. And the food! You select one of two fixed price menus. We started with the avocado terrine (me) and the marinated salmon salad with pink... More

We stopped in because of the beautiful flowers at every table. Excellent Bouef Bourguignon and rack of lamb. We did the 39 euro tasting menu and found it to be an excellent deal with a lovely starter, a generous entree and a dessert each. Oh, the dessert! A warm tarte tatin with a scoop of homemade whipped cream (they leave... More

We met up with a friend for drinks down the street, and found this place after scanning nearby reviews. I'm very glad we were nearby, but would travel from other parts of the city to eat here again. We arrived right when they opened, and were lucky enough to grab what seemed like the only non-reserved table. Within 10 minutes... More

This place was recommended by our leasing agent at our AirBNB and a great choice. We were very lucky to arrive without a reservation and the charming host found a table for us. Not very large but cozy and inviting and well decorated with beautiful, large floral arrangements (done by the host). The dinner was excellent, service attentive, good recommendations... More

Great dinner with friends in this charming Parisian restaurant near Notre Dame. L'll Vache was charming, comfortable with wonderful service and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Our prix fixe boeuf bourguigon was a great value at $37.50 including a fantastic dessert ( crème brulee for me; it was outstanding). Wine list was extensive. We had a very fine Bordeaux for a... We chose L'Ilot Vache (Little Cow Island) based on its TripAdvisor ratings, and we were not disappointed in the food or the service. It is, however, at least when we were there, full of American customers, which was not a plus for us, as my wife very much wanted to speak and be surrounded by French.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
