Food is fine, but the service personnel were conceited and haughty (an American student) and a bit ditzy (a Russian one). All the other guests were American (full disclosure: we're Canadian) and apparently this is the case most nights. Could has we'll have gone to an expensive French restaurant in Chicago (or Toronto).

This was a recommendation from a friend who visits Paris often. Without that, it would have looked like just any other corner restaurant. Wonderful greeting from the waitress and manager, who told us the restaurant's history and described the neighborhood. Fantastic duck dishes for the main course - not too expensive either.

Our meal was delicious and the service was excellent. Be sure, however, to get a reservation. We were delighted to be squeezed in, but by 8 PM every table was taken! Beside the great food, wine, and service, pay attention to the gorgeous flower arrangements. Be sure to read the history of the restaurant.

We literally stumbled upon this restaurant down the street from our rented apartment. We were just beginning to explore Ile St. Louis and saw this visually appealing place. I read some reviews and we gave it s try. Their pre fixe menu is fabulous for only 39 Euros. The service was great and friendly and the food was delicious. We... More

great traditional French food done perfectly. I had Beef Bourguignon. the sauce was rich and delicious and the baguette was hard on the outside and soft on the inside and made the right match for the sauce.

My son and I sought great Parisian food on the night we were here because, for the previous two days, we had been making the mistake of playing hit-or-miss with unknown restaurants when we were too tired to be judicious. Our last night, we were delighted to find that L'Îlot Vache not only was right down the street from where... More

The restaurant has been renovated since we last visited, and it is quite beautiful, with huge vases and beautiful flowers on many tables. The same chef has been in the kitchen for many years, and he produces wonderful food. But the wine list is overpriced, and the total cost for the fare exceeds what is comparable at nearby restaurants, so... More

We went to the L'Ilot Vache because I found very good reviews on TripAdvisor and was looking for a nice restaurant in the Ile Saint Louis. Expectations have been satisfied. Little and very nice place, a kind waitress hosted us and proposed some typical dishes of the french cuisine. We chose escargot de Bourgogne, very tasty! Following duck with roasted... More

Service was really fantastic!! First true Parisian experience we've had. Hearty but thoughtful meat dishes, great wine selection, and super tasty appetizers. We will make repeat runs here as we return from the States. Highly recommend the goat cheese appetizer! Niela the waitress was a SWEETHEART!!!

A wonderful neighborhood restaurant with reasonable prix-fixe meals and wonderful food. The service is excellent and they are very dog friendly!

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
