Four of us had a very nice meal made very, very enjoyable by our interaction with Gilles, the owner. The food was great but Gilles made the dining experience memorable chatting with us, kidding around and just being making the meal a heck of a lot of fun.

What a bad experience! I arrived 1h15 before the play at the lovely Theatre de l'Atelier nearby and sat to have dinner pre theatre. I was completely unwelcomed despite there were only 3 tables with customers. When I start to order and ask for a starter, the owner/server said this was a restaurant and couldn't serve it ??? I think... More

Small restaurant that was near the place we were staying while visiting Paris. Cozy, but fun atmosphere and wonderful food. The pepper steak and chips is a must! Service was excellent and very friendly. Highly recommend for a moderately priced bite to eat in Montmartre.

We visited this bistro late on a Wednesday night. It was about 10:30pm when we arrived. We had found it recommended in a Paris travel book. The fact that it was open late and close to our hotel, made it an attractive option. The restaurant is located on a small side street in the neighborhood of Montmartre near the Sacre... More

I've been coming to this gem for around 17 years and it is an extraordinary place. Gilles is a little unconventional but that adds to the place's attraction for me. I've brought wives, family, colleagues and customers here and they all say "I'll be back" The Rack of Lamb is quite simply an example of the very best French cooking... More

This is little restaurant is amazing with its simple dishes cooked to perfection. The steak and chips are quite possibly the best I've ever eaten. I almost cried at how good the chips were. The service is first rate and the welcoming and friendly chef / owner is very un-French with his dry sense of humour. If you're in Montmarte,... More

We happened upon L'Entracte (L'Entr'Acte" on business card) after descending from Sacre Coeur. My sister and I were looking for a special restaurant to celebrate our mother's birthday. My nieces had surprised my mother in Paris the day before so we were really after something special. When I looked inside this small (18 seat) restaurant I knew immediately this was... More

We stopped at this restaurant as it had been recommended in the TOp Ten guide that we had. Wish we had not bothered. Although the place was fairly empty they made a fuss about us not having a reservation. We both ordred the steak and asked for it well done. When it arrive I swear it was still alive, there... More

A cozy restaurant on a side street in Montmartre. It was a two man operation the evening we were there, one fellow cooking, and the other taking excellent care of the patrons. We felt welcomed, as though we had dropped in on a favorite uncle and he made us a wonderful dinner. It was memorable and I highly recommend it.

Staying in Montmartre

Neighborhood Profile
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colors, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
