We returned to this place following a visit about 1.5 years ago. It was still a lovely experience although the food was not as wonderful as I had remembered. The service was excellent. We both had the pear and roquefort starter which my partner loved but I thought was just okay. My partner had veal for the main which was... More

In the states we have a saying that there can only be 1 cook in the kitchen...totally not true here. There were 3, 4, and 5 cooks in this little open kitchen working together seamlessly. I had the foie gras, duck breast and profiteroles for dessert on recommendation of the waiter. I skipped the fromage portion of the fixed menu... More

We went for dinner as a family of 4. The food on our first time we went was absolutely phenomenal- we LOVED it!! The atmosphere was fantastic too. It was so good that we decided to go back two nights later. We ordered exactly the same meal - we loved it so much - and it was still good but... More

Was at L'Encrier for a casual dinner with friends. We were 4 and we all took items from the table d'hôte (the set menu). Everyone was very pleased with their choice. I had the duck confit which was, to put it plainly, the best I've ever had (and I've had many). Tender yet not greasy. Highly recommended.

This is a great little restaurant. On a Tuesday night in December it was packed with local French customers, always a good sign. The welcome was warm when we entered and the service was prompt and friendly. The confit de canard was very good indeed with some tasty fried potatoes. Profiteroles filled with ice cream were delicious.......and huge. Would recommend... More

After going to 2 other restaurants who were booked we called this place to see if we could get seated right away. They were able to seat us immediately. The restaurant is cozy...and offers a nice menu with a nice selection of daily specials. Our waiter was a bit hurried and abrupt about ordering. The food was very good, the... More

The restaurant is a five minute walk from Gare de Lyon and is easy to miss. The menu is adequate, reasonably priced and very tasty. Our server spoke English and translated the menu for us. Make reservations as it is a busy restaurant (only 20-30 customers at a time). Most of the patrons were locals, which I like to use... More

Stepping into L'Encrier makes you feel like you are visiting the dining room of a favorite relative. Greeted warmly and welcomed by the charming host with twinkling eyes that say he wants you to enjoy your evening, all other diners make you feel that you have joined a large family gathering. However, the food is superior. From a delicious pear... More

You would be forgiven for walking past this place without noticing it was there. That would be a mistake. It has a limited menu, but there's plenty for any taste. The service is excellent, and it's well patronised by locals, which is always a good sign. The portions are generous, and we struggled/failed to finish three courses. And for central... More
