Still THE best restaurant in Paris in our opinion, if you're looking for traditional French dishes, prepared with love and to perfection. just off the beaten track yet 2 minutes' walk from the iconic Moulin Rouge. The welcome is always friendly yet professional, the service is attentive, and the food outstanding. A typical Parisian restaurant, which makes for a perfect... More

The ambiance and staff welcome on entering the square one room restaurant was instantly warming and inviting. The menu is presented on a single sheet and many offerings were attractive. Service was prompt and unobtrusive but if prompted the server was very willing to have a relaxed conversation. The overall experience was so good that instead of visiting another restaurant... More

After searching TA for a suitable restaurant in the area, we settled on Chez Toinette hoping they could fit us in right at opening (1900). We were able to get a table and our server was friendly and attentive. The escargot were tasty, no removing from shell necessary. My friend had the duck which was kind of bland, and I... More

Have walked past this restaurant on previous trips to paris and stared in the window with jealous eyes at everyone sat in the beautiful red dining room. Finally got to visit on this trip. From reading the other reviews on TA i don't think the menu has changed much over the years and that is a good thing when everything... More

We went here on a Saturday evening without a reservation which meant having to come back a little later, totally understandable but you'd do well to book as this is a popular choice and is very small. We wanted to have a special meal on our last evening and Chez Toinette didn't disappoint. With its small size and candlelight, this... More

I went there with my sister and brother for his 50th birthday after having read the reviews for good value restaurants in Montmartre. I did book a week in advance and although almost full, they managed to squeeze in a table for three at 9pm on a Friday. The beef was beautifully cooked with a fabulous deep, rich wine jus... More

Lamb stew is really nice, tender and delicious but roast duck is a bit chewy. Staff are very attentive and friendly. Quirky place to have a French dinner.

We visited this restaurant on Thursday evening without reservation (We were lucky because it was the last places available - so I recommend to reserve before). The atmosphere was very warm and friendly with waiters very thoughtful. We could tasted a selection of white wine. The dinner was delicious with a roasted duck breast and a veal kidney cooked very... I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and he absolutely loved it. The food was delicious and the wine was great. I had the roasted lamb and he had the duck and both were cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend this place and will return again.

Staying in Montmartre

Neighborhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colors, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
