There are 2 stories to this restaurant. The main level has the grill/open cooking fireplace, the 2nd level below has the ambience of a "wine cave" with natural stone arches. You can watch all of the steaks cooking on the fireplace if your seating on the main floor. The restaurant is very cozy and reminded me of restaurants I ate at in Burgundy and Les Baux. I ordered the bavette steak which had a really nice onion sauce. We had to send our steaks back because they were too rare initially for our taste. You'll want to be specific on how you like your steak cooked. They took care of it promptly. Our waitress was excellent. She was attentive and friendly. We had a very nice dining experience eating here and it had the ambiance of a friendly family owned authentic bistro. The prices were very reasonable. We were staying in the Marais district so we could walk to this restaurant. The staff all greeted us when we arrived and said a friendly goodbye when we left. We really enjoyed this restaurant.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Robert et Louise! We entered just after our reservation time and were led to our downstairs table and provided a menu. It soon a few minutes for the busy staff to get to us but we enjoyed the hustle and bustle in this very uniquely decorated restaurant. Although the staff seemed to be flying about, when they came to see us, they focused on us and our needs. We didn’t know the wines and my spouse wanted a Pinot noir so the waiter quickly got her a sample - he could have upsold us to a more expensive bottle but said the least expensive was very good and he was right. We tried the escargot (really good - lots basil paste) and mushrooms (delicious) as starters. For mains we had the shrimps (very very tasty) and the steak (their specialty). The steak is cooked over a small wood burning fire that you can watch if you are seated in the right spot. We had a glass of Armagnac as a digestif and the bartender even slid me a little extra once it was gone. Just a great experience!

Really nice and welcoming place. Attentive and really kind staff. Dinner based on black pudding, duck breast and a nice rib all cooked on the grill. I have to say mouth-watering! Meat tender and cooked to perfection. I would have liked to try the kidney, but we were full by now and we put it off until next time since I often go to Paris. Paris may also be expensive from the point of view of catering, but 4 of us paid 159 euros, while a couple of friends in Bergamo ate grilled meat in a restaurant in the city and paid 136 euros!! Nice difference. However, I recommend anyone who loves meat to stop by Roberto and Louise!! Book early otherwise you won't find a place.

The welcome is very friendly, the waiters charming and available, and the restaurant stands out as a traditional flame grilled meat restaurant, so we expect quality meat ...
But it is mediocre, without tenderness or taste, and even if the prices are attractive the experience is disappointing for red meat lovers!
It is a shame that this meat comes from England with the excellent meats we have in our country ....

We received a lip service when we arrived in this restaurant which, thinking that it has existed for 60 years, does without the bare minimum. The meats are good but nothing extraordinary. Good walnut tartlet. The waiters who served us at the table were friendly. We were in the basement, the tradition of filling tables is nice, the downside is a very noisy and somewhat annoying atmosphere.
Ultimately an average evening.

We've been here many times over the past 10 years, admittedly a bit hit and miss with the food. We will not be back. For a restaurant that prides itself on an open fire to BBQ the meat, it was very poor. The rib-eye was very tough and difficult to cut or eat. Whether this is due to the poor quality of the meat (sells at only Euro 25 for 300g) or the method of cooking (fierce sudden heat over open flames with no resting time) is not clear. Probably both. Other guests seem to have equal problems cutting their cote de boeuf. Potatoes were OK but bland, as was the tepid dessert. One star for the food. Only good things were the wine, cheese and atmosphere. Staff try their best; the owner/manager takes no interest once he's got you in and paying.

Restaurant to absolutely flee! Real tourist trap. Deplorable welcome and incompetent greasy-haired waitress 😱 Value for Award very expensive (ex: an uneatable duck breast because too many nerves at 34 €) and the icing on the cake is the accompaniment of so-called roasted potatoes when they are boiled and simply returned in juice. What a shame! The knives were not even suitable for cutting meat. Award of unjustified dishes for such poor quality and null service. The manager does not even worry about the "good eating" of his customers, that is the least of his worries. No point in visiting this restaurant except if you want to get ripped off!!!!!

The restaurant came highly recommended by friends so we thought we'd try. The whole experience was very...meh. Rushed through table service, tough escargot and the steak for 2 was full of fatty scraps and relatively tasteless. I don't know why people rave about this place, it was incredibly overrated.

We were there with a group of 9 people. We ordered a wide range of things: cote de boeuf, tbone, duck breast and shrimps as main courses.
On the individual reviews:
Cote de boeuf: Well-cut, thick steak on the rib. Top doneness. Tasted good too, but not super tender - just cote de boeuf.
Tbone: Unusually thinly cut piece, I hadn't seen it like that. The doneness was top notch too. The fillet part was good, the other not so much. I wouldn't order it again for €34.
Duck breast: The best dish we ordered. Tender, pink fried, delicious, but for that price it has to be like that.
Shrimps: Tasted good, but 3 prawns for €24?!
On the side dishes: Everyone could choose two from potato wedges, green beans and salad. They ordered a mixed bag. Two small plates of beans were served, according to the waiter they had no more (sold out after 1 hour of opening?!). The salad leaves were also counted and there were not enough. At least there were enough potatoes. The plate size was also too small, the side dishes don't even fit on them.
Conclusion: I expect a lot more for the advertised prices. The food was OK, but I wouldn't go there again.

Absolutely Disappointing. I had high hopes for the steak. We ordered the Rib Steak for 2 and it was mostly inedible due to the very tough tendons and fat. We inquired why it was so tough and our waitress tried to bring us some better pieces. Unfortunately the grade of meat here is the worse I’ve ever had. It was hard to cut and chew and not flavourful. We will not recommend to anyone and noticed other diners spitting out meat pieces into their napkins. They must be busy because Anthony Bourdain mentioned this restaurant in his Paris travel show over 10 years ago.

My point It's more about respect to customer! I live in Paris about ten years, unfortunately they don't behaviour good to the customer, It's touristic place and they don't care about customer and It was the first time I saw this kind of bad behaviour in Paris!, we arrived early and I wanted to drink at first and then we want to order dinner so we ordered to drink with small dish to eat with it then the waiter come to us so fast to take the dinner order and when I told him we want half an hour to drink and then we order the dinner he told me you have to order now or maximum in fiftheen minuts! at first I thought he is kidding but he was completely serious and really It was first time I saw this kind of thing in Paris, I have never seen in Paris restaurant to obligate you to order more or fast the food and It was horrible! I think If you have not patient with customer, close your restaurant and come back tomorrow!(as a waiter or manager of restaurant you have to be polite and have a patient with customer), above all we ordered to eat and drink but they want to obligate us to order the dinner as soon as possible which I have never seen in Paris!
We ordered magret de canard and The food was normal (I mean the Price/Value), the quality was ok(was not the best which I ate in Paris and It was Ok), for the quality of the food and the price is 3,5 or 3,7(not more)
About their behaviour with the customer(the point is 0 or 1 ) I avoid you to go to this restaurant of course you can find a lot of better restaurant than this one!

Restaurant with old school decoration, reminiscent of the bistros of old. The ground floor room is organized around an old fireplace where beautiful pieces of meat grill. All this immediately puts water in the mouth. The atmosphere in the basement rooms seemed less pleasant.
The cooking is simple, the meats are deliciously cooked, the garlic in the green beans reminded me of my grandmother’s cooking. On the other hand, flat on sautéed potatoes, a little bland, not greedy enough.
We can skip desserts especially if we have taken a starter, especially since desserts are most classic, without more.

An experience at the counter and on the taste buds.
Arrived without Reservation, we really, really do not recommend, to proceed like this. We got two seats at the counter on the fly that allowed us to attend the theatre of operations as closely as possible.
Like a general, Francis welcomes and places newcomers with good humor and a keen sense of reception.
The others deploy the heavy artillery by raining grilled meat to perfection on tourists AND on the many Parisians who are lucky enough to be at the table.
Operations, happy mines and full bellies. Several dead oxen.
Special mention for this real rib that does not lie about its weight.

With meat they bring you mustard on small bowls. When they take them away at the end of the service, after the meat is rightly dipped in them, all they do is top them up, wipe the mustard on the edges with their hands and bring them back to another table. Without washing them. Seen with my own eyes the waiters doing it

We came to this typical French restaurant based on recommendations. A small place with tables in a basement and on the first level, mostly for sharing. Kitchen and grill in sight. You wear the smoke.
We ordered blood sausage with applesauce, it was good. Afterwards we decided on the lamb, chops and gigot, we ordered cooked medium and both dishes came sangrant.
The portions are abundant with accompaniment of potatoes and salads.
Excellent service.
Prices suitable for Paris.

Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendor. This neighborhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
