Came across this restaurant as we were too hungry to wait in line for Breizh Café. After having looked at the menu, decided this place was good enough. Turns out, it was more than good. Freakin' delicious. The meat is cooked right in front of you in a chimney and the portions are good. Had the duck magret and the... More

After watching an Anthony Bourdain episode where he visited this restaurant it was on our hit list when we next visited Paris. We LOVED it! So much so we came back the next night. On our first night we sat on the communal table upstairs right near the open fire that they cook on. We enjoyed a steak frites and... More

The restaurant was full so we sat downstairs in a perfectly adequate room but which was a bit smelly (damp) and dark. We shared steak, potatoes and salad: it was good, but I have eaten better steaks before. I would give it 7/10.

We came to this place for a lunch. We had a table on a basement, it is really nice cold place during hot summer! We had starters: snails and a black sausage. For the main course we ordered lamb chops and entrecôte. Both were really tasty and good! No extra flavor, simple and fresh! For sure will visit the place... More

This restaurant is improperly rated--it is not good. It is telling that there are two non-French cooking--they are hardly chefs--in the kitchen. There is no respect shown for the beef which is not even seasoned with salt and shown no respect when tossed on the filthy grill. How do you screw up potatoes and mushrooms? Go and order and you... Good ambience and steak but make sure you call to make a reservation to avoid disappointment. Also you should be prepared to share a table with others unless you have a big enough group to occupy the entire table.

We LUCKED OUT and made reservations during the Football finals and was able to enjoy the restaurant on a relatively uncrowded night (normally, there are lines out the door). The restaurant is smallish and all of the meats are cooked on a wood stove towards the back (but still very much in view). We both had a cut of steak... More

I love well made Lamb chops, especially with French spices. Theirs are large, fresh, but not seasoned at all. The potatoes seemed plain too. The bread and spicy mustard was the best part. It's very popular but too plain for me.

Neighborhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendor. This neighborhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
