Looking at previous reviews of Chez Marianne, it seems that experiences vary wildly. We were there just before the lockdown, so it wasn't busy at all. Maybe that made a difference because we liked our food and the service. They were prompt and friendly and...everything we ordered was quite good. Falafel was really good.More

We arrived at the Chez Marianne restaurant after the terrible experience at Equinox Restaurant in tue does Rosiers and we’re hungry and angry at the same time. A first waiter brought us to another building where were seated and served by a very gentle Italian...girl. We ordered the Large assortment of Tahina, eggplants, Tabule, Tzaziki, Hummus, and Turkish salad. Bagels and blinis. A very nice bottle of white Sancerre. The food was aboundant and we could not taste the desserts which I am sure are excellent, with a nice assortment of strudel (apple, cherry, dates, etc.). The final surprise, we paid less than at the Equinox where we had only a terrible Skype d’oignon and two glasses of cheap red wine!! We will definitely come back!!More

We had walked past this restaurant a number of times while staying in Paris . It was always busy with a lively crowd. We remembered it on our last evening and because it was a wet evening , it suited us given its proximity to...our apartment. What a wonderful surprise. This Mediterranean restaurant is in a very old building with loads of atmosphere . The food is all small tapas style with many options for share plates. The staff were delightful and made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed some delicious wine and about eight different share plates. The food was delicious , fresh and full of flavour. Finishing off the meal with some delicious baklava - we were so pleased that we had visited. Recommended.More

Chez Mariannen has to be, hands down, the best food I've had in Paris in my 8 days and nights here. In addition to the warmest staff waiting on our tables, the food was fresh, delicious and without any fuss. Old school style of serving...food with a big and hearty smile, and a large plate of freshly prepared food fare by someone who clearly knows their way around the kitchen. I had a meal for 1 with 4 sample appetizers to choose from: tuna (yummers), sweet bell peppers roasted, aubergine grilled, feta cheese (divine). Each, in its own right, merited a while plate by itself. Their mint tea, freshly brewed, with the slightest twinge of sweetness, was refreshing and more than welcome! I'd highly, and repeatedly, encourage everyone to grab a bite here. You will be so thankful for it, your stomach more so :)More

Always packed on last visit. Happy we got to finally try it. If you are American, do not order the brisket or pastrami, because you will be sadly disappointed. In fact their idea of a bagel would be unacceptable in Brooklyn or even New Haven...(Lenders). However try the brick, the herring spread etc. those are quite good. The fried eggplant with tomato is exceptional, as are the desserts. The best is the strawberry tart with the almond paste. My best friend loves the poppy seed pastry. Service was quite attentive at first but strayed at the end. Nevertheless a treat.More

Wanted to try a different taste - looks interesting. Sad that the food was so-so. Wait staff was exceptional.

With the myriad of fabulous cafes and bistros in Paris, skip Mariannes and go elsewhere. We were sandwiched in to a miniature space, got poor service, and food was barely mediocre.

My favorite falafel place was closed so I stood in line - way too long - for a greasy falafel at Chez Marianne. Horrible! Waste of a meal in Paris - so sad! And there were bugs in the dessert case. Stay away!

Utter garbage. How did I manage to find such a woeful place in Paris where I feel entitled to only wonderful eating experiences? Was recommended by Rick Steeves guidebook. Last time I take that guy's advice. Ten glops of slop plopped onto the plate. Uh...oh I said when it arrived..WTF? Tasted even worse that it looked. It's now 4:30 the afternoon and I'm under the covers in my hotel room listening to my stomach loudly complain. No wonder they call this restaurant "la mauvaise blague du marais"More
