We were very tired and went inside İnsidentally. The scene of the outside was ordinary. But when we entered in, it was like a magic. I thought we went to the last century, like in the film of Woody Allen: one night in Paris. Every thing we ate was delicious. Thanks to the waiter who once had come to Istanbul... More

Excellent ambiance, good food, and well-earned reputation. Quite meagre on the fish/ veg side but I believe the place is more known for its meat. Slight deduction of points for very slim champagne selection and unavailability of English menu: while most waiters speak English well enough, the setup is a tad inefficient if someone is indecisive (either in your company... Brasserie Lipp sits across the Blvd. St. Germain from Les Deux Magots and Cafe Flore, and can be overshadowed in the guidebooks by its more storied neighbors. Locals and frequent visitors know it to be a cozier, more authentic place, perfectly situated for an afternoon aperitif and a strenuous bout of people- and tourist-watching. It's no cheaper than its neighbors,... More

We had a great dinner with steaks fries and salad and fine wine at the classic Brasserie Lipp. Luckily some restaurants never change. Very good service in spite of the lively Saturday night.

I have been visiting this restaurant for many years and the atmosphere and décor remains as good as ever, however my last meal there was very far from great. One of my favourite dishes which is normally served on Tuesday as plat du jour, is the gigot d'agneau and as usual I asked for it pink. When the lamb arrived... More

My last night in Paris. I have been told that 2 braseries are "top quality" . The first night I go to Les Deux Magots in St Germaine de Pres. Lovely dnner: duck confit is to die for especially with the sauce/gravy and the pomme du terre frites. The service is excellent and the food memorably delicious. Wanting to compare... More

so look, the experience is everything, so lets not talk about the food. But we must. Everyone else at my table ordered with a notion of what they were going to have, but I foolishly thought that I could be adventurous. Bad idea. I was brought a tremendous sea of very tasty Lentil's on top of which sat a boiled... More

The quintessential brasserie, Lipp is a Left Bank shrine to the French brasserie. More casual than a restaurant, with brisk service and very good food. Reservations are encouraged for dinner. The menu is unchanged these many decades and the classic French dishes never disappoint. The second floor dining room is sometimes preferred but I like the first floor room personally-perhaps... Brasserie Lipp is still very famous and well reputated - it is a legendary place for Parisians as well as tourists. It has been the favorite restaurant of many politicians. It is indeed a very nice spot because of its atmosphere and traditional interior.

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
