The location is everything here. Just off the bridge between the two islands. The food is expensive and nothing out of this world.

Here it is....and it's all about tradition, family and integriy. You will look long and hard to find these qualities in most other brassereries and cafes. The owners love and attention for their eaterie shows through in its decor and service. There is not a better view of the left bank, and blue sky from any other brasserie in Paris.... More

We had a delightful lunch sitting in the sunshine. Service was prompt and friendly. Excellent steak tartare and delicious calf's liver. Good value. Timeless and traditional. Good honest food without the trappings of modern frippery.

A very family friendly ambiance with a great owner that comes around the restaurant and salutes everyone. The waiters always accommodate you with pieces of advices. The food is excellent and typically representative of French brasseries. the view is absolutely fantastic. Great experience in the heart of Paris on the most famous island in the world. The most romantic place... More

First, it was NOT the restaurant I intended to take my son to for steak frites - that one was Le Lutetia, where I had fabulous steak frites a couple years ago. I digress. The waiter talked my son into the "mixed grill" which he ordered medium-rare and which he got well-done (I mean, shoe-leather well-done). I ordered sole with... More

Wish I could tell you about dinner here but unfortunately didn't get an opportunity to taste what the chefs might have prepared for us. Left the restaurant because of the demeanour of the serving staff. We were made to feel unwelcome by a supercilious bureaucrat posing as a waiter. Glad to say that after we were disturbed by this attitude... More

Sweet old waiter; classic old restaurant in fantastic location. Old-school awesomeness. Started with leeks in vinaigrette. Then sauerkraut with 5? 6? pork products on top! Delicious, hearty food; even better with the beer they serve. (visited April 2015)

One of the few dreary meals we had in Paris! I had run out of data and took a chance on this restaurant without reading the reviews. It looked quite busy, but I realized once we had ordered that it was only outside, and people were mainly drinking. One waiter was very pleasant, but the other was rude. I cannot... More

We ate here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. The menu is sort of a strange mix, but my wife liked both the fish dishes she had and I liked my omelettes. For dinner we were with friends who got steaks and frites and enjoyed them.

My family search for this precious gem after our boat trip and before heading off to Notre Dame, we wanted to refuel here. All the dishes were executed nicely. We had the tomato salade, cassoulet and the pork leg on apple sauce. For those who have never been in service line before, DUN JUDGE ! This is clearly a brasserie... More

Description
The Brasserie was established in 1870 and has been serving continuously since. It has become a Paris tradition, for Parisians and other friends from all over the world. The decor has been kept and the traditional french food is authentic and home made with only fresh products. Located in the most romantic and beautiful area, on the small island by Notre Dame right in the heart of the old Paris. The Brasserie will welcome you in a warm and cosy Parisian atmosphere in winter, while in summer you will enjoy a drink or a meal as well as the island's famous Berthillon ice cream on the terrace with its magnificent view of Paris. We serve from noon to 11pm (close on Wednesdays) and we do not take reservations so come whenever you want. We hope that you will enjoy our restaurant and we hope to see you soon.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
