The Bistrot du Sommelier is small with a resaturant on the ground floor and a big room in the cellar next to the wine cellar. The wines available are breathtaking in their quality and M. Philippe Faure-Brac is one of the leading Somelieres in France. We went for dinner. The service was attentive and helpful without being too Close. The... More

This is relatively a small restaurant, 20 tables or so. It is very cozy. Food was very interesting and they provided perfect matching wine. Although we had a fixed menu, they accommodated our request to substitute the starter with the mouthwatering egg dish. We enjoyed a long autumn night thoroughly.

Went with a group from work. It was a very tasty set menu for a group of ten. We ate in a pretty private room on top of the restaurant. The set menu was seasonal and well received. The wine matches were excellent and the owner allowed our group to purchase a few bottles at a very reasonable price. The... More

We went to this place during our stay in Paris for dinner. The staff were friendly, they accommodated us even though we didn't have a reservation for dinner. The food was delicious. The owner personally came to greet us (and people in all the tables) and we had a pleasant conversation about northern California.

I have eaten at the Bistrot several times. My wife and I were looking forward to this visit since we are usually in Paris on a Saturday or Sunday when they are closed. My first course was pork and chorizo. There were 2 wafer thin pieces of chorizo on the plate that were barley warm. The taste was fine but... More

Hello Sir, Thank you for coming into my new restaurant and have appreciated once more our wine and the dishes. I am sincerely sorry for the small chip on the carafe and especially to the answer given by my staff that does not correspond to the reality of our house. Any decanters are controlled and none presented today to default.... More

Pork chop with chorizo special was certainly among the top two or three chops I've had (something as a U.S. Midwesterner I find painful to say). Every dish benefitted from both creative, balanced flavors and perfectly executed cook times. Came here on a friend's recommendation and was delighted with the choice.

Found this spot by chance a few blocks from the Hotel Astor -- what a lucky find. Intimate dining room with attentive service. Waiter recommended a wine to go with my meal and, to my delight, brought a delicious glass and then invited me to guess the appellation. I was off by a few hundred miles, but that's OK, he... More

This restaurant, headed by 1992 World Sommelier Champion Philippe Faure-Brac doesn't disappoint. The venue is nice and understated. The seasonal menu changes monthly with additional daily options. The dishes are very well-made, although we found they lacked seasoning (easily remedied). The wine list is magnificent, both by the glass and by the bottle, ensuring your liver is catered for, as... This is a wine oriented (as the name would suggest) restaurant with very enjoyable bistrot cuisine and a very good selection of regional wines of France. We asked the Sommelier to make selections for us and bring the wines blind in decanters so that we might challenge our pallets and he was most accommodation and actually enjoyed the game. The... The owner here was once voted the worlds best sommelier apparently. I only drink white wine or rose and I'm normally fussy. He pushed my boundaries and opened my palette to so much more. Truly excellent wines. On a separate visit I had a croque Monsieur and have to say it was excellent Well worth a visit
