I had big expectations from Fragments, having read about them in various specialty coffee magazines and having been mesmerized by their Instagram photos. However, looks can be deceiving. While the coffee (had a cappuccino and an espresso) and the carrot cake were very good, I...had a hard time enjoying them to the fullest, as the place is VERY dirty - from the musty window frames to the toilet. It looked as if it has never been cleaned. With so many other good specialty coffee options in Paris, I don't see any reason to come back, unfortunately.More
It’s a small, yet popular cafe. Waited for 45-60 minutes. Our order contained two avocado toast with an egg and a cappuccino. In my opinion it’s a bit overrated. The avocado toast tasted like a normal avocado toast with some lime on top. It’s a...bit pricy as well, and not much too choose between.More
When I first walked in I wanted to love this place so much! It just felt good and the pastries looked amazing. Things I liked - the service, coffee and vibe. Things I didn’t love - avocado toast was too lemony (or was it salty?)...and it was expensive. I had a much better avocado toast (for only EUR 10) at the nearby La Chamade (new restaurant)! I was here during the off season so no issue with being too crowded. Order at your table but pay at the counter. I’d probably give it another try on another visit to Paris and was staying in the area.More
We went to Fragments for breakfast for my partner's birthday. The service was absolutely abominable and below any bar - especially the bar of a relatively expensive café.
We were told there was a max. 30 min wait. We didn't mind to wait outside for...a bit. However, the 30 mins turned into an hour. Meanwhile, multiple tables were becoming free and we were still not allowed to be seated. We counted that at least 7 (!) tables were free, making the vast majority of the tables empty. People kept on joining the cue but nothing budged.
What was most jarring was that the waiters never came to give an update, and told a vague lie about the coffee machine not being ready (most people in the cue ordered coffee while waiting - and received this so this didn't make any sense). Then, after multiple people asked they seated all the table at once, causing huge delays in the placing of orders.
The food itself was mediocre at best - so not worth the ill treatment by staff. Overall - it's mostly the ways in which the staff treated the clients that was most. jarring. If they would give an update on the prolonged waiting period or explain why they refused to seat people, we would at least have been able to make an informed decision. This treatment showed an unreliable and unprofessional attitude, where staff cannot take any responsibility whatsoever towards clients.More
This is the best coffee we had in Paris. This is a small cafe that has maybe 8 tables inside and serves small plates, like avocado toast, and some cakes. It was very crowded when we visited, perhaps because it was raining, so no one...could sit outside. It had very good lattes and cappuccinos.More
