Extremely rude. Do not spend your money here. When there was exactly zero customers inside and outside of this place, our group of four were refused drinks because “it will be sunny soon and there will be many people coming to eat.”

Very nice and cozy square, in the middle of the of this wonderful neighborhood. The food is quite good but expensive for this kind of cuisine.
We went for lunch and the food was very good. I had the traditional Croque Monsieur. The Place de la Contrescarpe was one of my favorite parts of Paris. And the restaurant looks over it. We were serenaded by a lovely Parisian on the accordion.
Poor service highlighted this visit. Not terribly busy, and 30 minutes for simple drinks to be delivered. Another 15 minutes for bill. Then, all change provided in Euro coin ... 15 euros. Worst service in Paris in years, and that says a lot.
If you have never been to the Contrescape you have not been to Paris. You cannot see the Eiffel Tower, Louve, but this is Paris' living room at night. You have to get a seat at Gastons and watch the entertainment in the area. Trust...me, this is one of the greatest areas in Paris at night. Service at Gastons is great. They are attentive, but slow on food delivery ( then again it is France). The staff enjoys talking with people, but they know their space. The hamburgers are well done. The Fries are a very small serving at least by American Standards. Again I would recommendMore
I had the 3 slider burgers which were delicious. The restaurant is situated in a quiet little square about 15/20mins walk from Notre-Dame area. Not too expensive and friendly waiting staff.
Excellent restaurant.. very good salad and great choice of burgers... all is home made... nice atmosphere and good service.. the staff was nice and welcoming.. nice place to feel being in Paris.. A very good place to stop for having lunch, with a nice view...with a terraces on the Contrescarpe place.. you can continue your visit with the very typical Mouffetard street... A nice immersion in the Parisian style...More
My boyfriend and I both got EXTREMELY SICK - FOOD POISONED - after eating the burgers at Gaston. Never go there! Seriously.
Last time we were in that area we lunched here, so, remembering the excellent food and service we enjoyed last time, we went again. It is still excellent. Great food, great service, staff super with the kids.
Great place to observe the goings-on in Place de la Conterscarpe. The “happy hour” drink prices are good for Place de la Conterscarpe. It has the friendliest wait staff. A good place to “see and be seen”.
Gaston is, as my title indicates, a cosy little lunch place in the fifth arrondissement. It offers a limited, but well balanced menu that you can consume on their terrace at the Place de la Contrescarpe. Close to the Sorbonne, the near environment harbours a...lot of students, French or otherwise, rousing up the atmosphere with laugther and activity. Everything in the vicinity is cheaper because of the university. Ideal for a drink or two on a sunny day when you've just made an extended bike tour of the city, like we did.More
Being from Australia, with no understanding of French, it was quite a relief to find a restaurant, in this part of Paris, that had and English menu available. We were greeted by a very efficient waitress called Sophie, I think, and the cocktail and food...that followed, was of great quality and not too French!! The location was fantastic, opposite the small square, littered with other restaurants and people everywhere, enjoying the vibe.More
Had the most delicious burgers here! Mozzarella sticks and quesadillas were great too. Definitely try the burgers! Served with yummy fries! Prices were around $14-16 Euros. Customer service was exceptional as well! Very enjoyable meal and great to people watch.
We stopped here because the students were craving burgers and these didn’t disappoint. Not one of the 13 of us were disappointed. I had the croquette chevrette (sp?) which had ham, cheese, goat cheese, tomatoes and mushrooms. It was delicious. The fries were also first...rate. Not unreasonable in price but know that it will be more expensive (13-18 euro).More
This pub is located at these cool square place de la Contrescrape! The service is good and the food was nice as well , but the pub mostly enjoys its' location.
