Our favorite piano bar and restaurant in Montmartre was closed when we visited, luckily we found this restaurant across the street to it. It was full of people so we were directed upstairs where we were alone. The place was a traditional French restaurant and walls speak of it. We ordered the 14 euro fixed menu and surprisingly the mix and the taste and quality of food was very good. The only wish was we would have wanted our favorite onion soup as starter but instead they had vegetable soup. One thing to note is that we have never been in a restaurant with a speedy service as this. There was no risk that we would be forgotten even if we were alone upstairs. It was the owner/manager himself serving us. We have just wiped off the taste of the starter from our lips and he was there to serve the warm dish and so on. The restaurant was full yet service was very efficient. Also, it was very good for us as we were catching our flight out of Paris, quite soon that day.

It is hard to believe, but next to the touristy Place du Tertre you find this local hidden gem. The service is done by a father and his daughter. They are very sweet and the daughter speaks English well.
The entire place were filled up with locals from 21:00 Friday night; we were the only tourists. After dinner, the locals, mainly elders, would start singing french songs together and for each other. They also asked us to sing a song or two in danish. It was very intimate and we felt that the locals included us.
Last but not least we asked two seated locals (35 years old) about their best experience to do if you had one night in Paris. They both said that spending a night here is the most authentic experience you can get.
N.P.
- The food is good simple french cuisine for a good price.
- You can't reserve a table online, only in person.
- Cash only

Small, quaint and easy to miss, this little gem has been around quite a while. Don’t miss it. Lovely small garden with simple table and plastic chairs under ivy plants makes you feel like you’re in your grandmother’s kitchen. If you were lucky enough to have a provincial French grandmother). I will even forgive the microwave in the kitchen. Please note: CLOSED MONDAYS. 12:30-2:30 and 7:30-9:30 for lunch and dinner, respectively. Simple, honest food and a genuine, welcoming atmosphere that is a nice change from the touristy traps on the butte. Happy place.

I don’t know if it was because we were foreigners, but we were pretty much ignored the whole time that we were sitting (no water, no bread, etc.). Server was playing with his mobile phone instead of taking our order or making us feel welcomed. We got up to leave and nobody bothered asking us to stay. Would give it ZERO stars if I could.

I came here with a colleague and her Parisian grandmother. As soon as you step off the street, you are transported away from noisy Montmarte into a traditional French restaurant. The menu is short and very French. I had the confit duck which was delicious. While we were there, customers on other tables broke into spontaneous songs and poetry recitals. There is a pretty courtyard garden out the back which leads into a small art gallery. Le Vieux Chalet is a lovely place to linger over a long lunch.

Sitting on the main street (if you can call it that), leading to the Sacre Coeur nestles this little gem.
Unpretentious, friendly and well priced.
Delicious food from a short menu (always a good sign, in my opinion), served by members of the family who own it.
There is also a small garden out the back, which is a perfect secret hideaway during the warmer days and evenings...

We just had the most amazing experience. Owners sharing a glass of brandy abd stories with us. Another table broke into a sopranic rendition of their national song. We engaged people at the table next to us in an interesting conversation and, finally, the owners were singing songs from their childhood. Food and service were pretty good. But the ambience was Amazing.

Reservation was accepted online. Made our way all the way there from central Paris and it was not open on a Sunday night.

Made a reservation with TripAdvisor and the place was not even open. Either the restaurant or TripAdvisor should be held responsible for poor communication.

Went a Friday evening for dinner. Food below average, very simple and plain and taste was very average. We had the €18 menu with steak as a main. We got an average tasting steak with potato fries and a single small salad leaf with some dressing and 1/8 tomato, that's it. Nice ambience though if you sit in the back garden. Would not go again though.

We bought a painting and the artist showed us this place. I don't think we would find it by ourselves but how wonderful he did. The place exudes french charm, rustic french charm. We felt like we were in an old french movie, even the bathroom is worth a visit ;-). The host were warm and attentive. We tried the escargot, really good. My husband the lamb chops, cooked to perfection. I had duck confit, delicious although a bit salty. Overall a wonderful experience.

This little chalet is run by the sweetest couple of Parisians. They told us the story- this little place has incredible history (including visits by Picasso and other great artists). The place is incredibly authentic, simple, quiet and warm. Fantastique!

We found this amongst the bustle of the street and it was amazing. Flavours were exceptional. It appears a family owned restaurant with traditions. Amazing.
