I have been trying a lot of breakfasts in Paris and I must say that 7 euros is quite reasonable for this kind of breakfast: a hot drink, some very good bread and an excellent croissant, a glass of orange/grapefruit/pineapple juice. The jam is quite ordinary though. Very nice staff too.

A friend and I went here for a drink. So we actually liked but a few thinks were not so good! First there's no cappuccino and no standard hot chocolate.... The beers are over expensive and the worst of the negative points, the Camembert sandwich well doesn't have Camembert in it but Brie (according to my friend). Anyhow we did... More

We visited this place twice we loved it so much. Our first visit was for drinks on a Friday night after dinner elsewhere, where we sat outside and enjoyed huge, and I mean huge, glasses of Leffe Ruby and watched Paris life. The area is great as there seems to be more locals than tourists so you get a brilliant... More

Nice, lovely French "old fashioned" bistrò (either the place and the waiters). We had a breakfast here to skip standard Htl food, and it was quite a good choice! We sugget the French croissant and the "baguette" with butter and marmalade. Avoid orange juice (from bricks, I guess), but for all the others, just let people from the restaurant give... More

Very good food. Ok service. Great people watching. It took a while to get to us but when they did they did a great job. We are staying close by so we will be back. A great glass of wine for $4.

Our family of five ate a quick lunch after arriving in Paris. Nice location in a busy square. Waiter spoke reasonable English and menu was understandable. Service good and waiter fun. A bit pricey, but on par for Paris in August.

We visited here early one evening during ‘Happy Hour’. Sadly ‘happy’ did not extend to the waiter, who was unwelcoming and offhand. The cocktails arrived unadorned in grubby looking tumblers and we wished we hadn’t gone there. I would not recommend this place.

Surprised on reading some of the reviews now we are home again, as we had absolutely no complaints about service and attention. We enjoyed a delicious lasangne, which unfortunately was not hot enough in the beginning, but the matter was dealt with very speedily and apologetically.

Only for a coffee and tarte aux pommes. The strawberry pie on the menu was not available in spite of them being in season. Pie and coffee were fine - service was pathetic - the server was obviously ignoring me (clearing tables...)

Staying in Les Halles

Neighborhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
