Very convenient for a traditional French lunch, as we stayed in the Pullman Montparnass nearby. Steak tartare & frites.....perfect. A nice bottle of burgundy to savor. Professional service and sparkling clean.....what's not to like?

This was a return visit to this restaurant which we first experienced a couple of years ago. On this occasion we had the vegetable soup which was topped with puff pastry and was delicious. This was followed by Boeuf Bourguignon (beef stew) for my husband and I had the Salmon with salad. The food was cooked well and we both... More

We wouldn't miss going to eat at this restaurant when in Paris, it never disappoints, impeccable service, excellent food and good advice, hence the name of the restaurant on the wine to drink with what you are eating.

This place was very near to my hotel, so I decided to take a look. Small menu but with very good selection. It´s an old but charming place that anyone wants to experience when travelling to Paris. It has the Paris charisma! Also very nice wine list. I had the pork and I loved it. Is a place to repeat... More

We made a last minute dinner reservation at this restaurant on my birthday, before going to the theater nearby. Although it was recommended by our hotel, I was hesitant, as it looked like a classic old style French brasserie and I wanted something on the lighter side. What a nice surprise! They have an extensive wine list and our glasses... More

The area immediately around Gare Montparnasse is not great, in my experience, for quality dining. Lots of fast/nearly fast food places. Petit Sommelier which is on the main road is an exception. Small (its frontage is narrower than the picture above might suggest) and easily missed. The wine list is huge and impressive, and the place could be more of... More

This Art-Nouveau style restaurant is near the Gare Montparnasse. One of the best choices around. I recommend: the boeuf bourguignon, the planche de charcuteries or the planche du petit sommelier (these come with Lyon sausage, various French hams, truffles, foie gras, and dried fruits). For dessert, the sampler called "trois petits desserts de notre enfance" is a great choice, including... More

Visited with colleagues on a Monday night. Ordered oysters, Argentinian steak, choc cake, drank the irancy and pouissy fume. First off, this place is a bistro, Art Deco (little dated) serving classic fayre. They put their suppliers on page 1 of the menu, and have a decent selection of wines. Food quality was great, well cooked steak if a little... More

Staying in Montparnasse

Neighborhood Profile
Montparnasse
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the center of Paris this neighborhood has something for every hour of the day.
