MICHELIN Guide's Point of View

This bistro – a good "seed" (semilla in Spanish) – was founded in 2012 on the initiative of the owners of Fish La Boissonnerie, which is just opposite....

A bright Parisian friend proposes this for a conversational lunch and it stood the test well for over two hours (it was midweek or else we might have made an afternoon of it). A choice of three Entrees, Plats, Desserts, with a special steak nod...to the more committed carnivores - all as part of a two savoury course package. Vegetarian was there throughout and I enjoyed the tempura and sorrell soup entrée. Been back several times since and enjoyed each occasionMore

I visited Semilla alone as a last minute choice while in Paris on business based on some very good reviews, to which now I whole heartedly agree. I sat at the bar and asked my server for whatever the Chef recommended and was treated to...a seven course extravaganza! Yes it was fully priced but so worth every penny! Every dish was creatively prepared and most delicious, loaded with a variety of flavors with none overwhelming, in fact it was the subtle nuances that made the biggest impression. I also left the wine choices to my server, every glass was a perfect pairing for each course, an interesting mix of lighter whites and medium then fuller bodied reds, interesting that some of the choices were from locations other than France, a wonderful variety. Equally impressive was the service provided by the exciting young staff. Not only was my server warm and friendly but also several others made a point to check in on how I was enjoying the experience. Everyone was all smiles and seemed to be genuinely enjoying what they do. Congratulations to the leadership for providing an obviously positive environment. I can whole heartedly recommend Semilla the next time you visit Paris. Absolutely outstanding!More

What a delicious meal, we had a beet salad and it was such an unexpected flavor and texture. One of the best salads I have ever had. The fish was also so good and buttery. Will definitely go back when I return to Paris. Only...down side was the Host that was a little overwhelmed. But the rest of the staff and great and this didn’t really affect our experience.More

Semilla was our favorite restaurant we went to while we were in Paris. We loved it so much we went twice. The first night we went we did not have a reservation but thankfully they were able to accommodate us. The second night we went,...we made sure to make a reservation which can be easily done online. We had really great service from all the staff and we loved the overall ambiance of the restaurant. Our waiter recommended the royale d’oignons as an appetizer and we were mind blown! I’m not sure exactly what it was, but one thing I’m sure of is that it was incredible. Then we had the côte de bœuf as our entree. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The beef comes with the most amazing creamy, rich puréed potatoes as well as salt and a broth-like sauce. The chunky salt and broth-like sauce on top of the beef make it the perfect bite. The beef entree is huge and could definitely be shared between 2-3 people. We loved the appetizer and entree so much we ordered the same exact thing a few days later on our second visit. Everything about this meal was perfect. I could not recommend this restaurant enough and will definitely be returning every time I’m back in Paris!More

Wonderful variety of dishes. Very fine, modern cuisine with special ingredients making an exceptional culinary experience. We arrived a couple of minutes before the kitchen closed and our waiter, Josquin, made sure we were taken care of to the fullest extent.

I highly recommend Semilla to anyone looking to dine in the Latin Quarter. I was very surprised to read other reviewers who had problems with the service. We loved our server, who took the time out to patiently describe menu items to us – our...waiter even went out on a limb and picked out a few of his favorites to us. Yes, their menu is only in French, but that is easily solved using the photo function of your Google Translate app. Our waiter did the rest of the work in explaining each dish to us. All our dishes were excellent, from starters, to mains to desserts. See the photos included in this review to see what we ordered. As stated above, we highly recommend Semilla to anyone wanting to dine in the Latin Quarter!More

Not friendly to tourists & extremely rude. Very upsetting to spend our last night in Paris with such a poor staff. Have never felt more unwelcome in a restaurant environment.

I am surprised to see the recent negative and luke-warm reviews. My friend and I had dinner here in June and it was amazing. Creative without going over the top, as many places do these days. Excellent wine cellar, too. We had a wonderful attentive...and friendly waiter, as well.More

Came 3 times and probably it was the last one. Very beautiful decoration, nice concept, w good wine, meat very tasty, But it is for the second time I am disappointed with the main course. Tuna with cucumber...why? Even impossible to imagine those can be...an interesting mix.... There are much more really Fooding places. It is a pity.More

Check their website. Their menu changes all the time but we had vegetarian options when we were there.
