Went there with friends where I had today’s meat dish. It was very very average, nothing to write home about. The meat wasn’t tender at all and the dish was overall tasteless. The dessert was even worse. I only give three stars because of the...ambiance and the waiter was very friendly.More

Admittedly, we dined there on a Friday night, and the place was busy. The pavement tables were all taken, which was fine with us, and we chose a table by an open window anyhow. The waiter didn't seem best pleased with our choice, but with...a scowl accompanied by a gallic shrug of the shoulders, allowed us to sit there. He was a sallow youth with I am very sorry to relate, somewhat of an attitude problem which he continued to display throughout the evening. We ordered a bottle of very decent Chablis, and then perused the menu. To tell the truth it was a somewhat bizarre document: there was a list of 12 or 15 different "tapas" - and then only 4 main courses: fish of the day, meat of the day, and vegetarian of the day. I cannot remember what the fourth choice was. We were a party of four: two of us ordered the meat of the day, which turned out to be pork filet, on a bed of braised endives, and beans. One of us chose Tandoori Cauliflower, which was the veggie dish of the day - and a more astonishing culinary sight I have never seen on a French bistro plate. Imagine one of the biggest un-dissected cauliflowers you have seen in your life, dumped on a plate with tandoori sauce on the top. I can't remember seeing any other ingredients. My wife fancied none of the offerings, and asked if quite simply she might have a large salad. The callow youth reared back with a look of astonishment. "Mais non! One ne fait pas de salade ici!" I then reared back with astonishment: a French bistro that has no salad?? How can this be? It is worse, far worse than an English pub with no beer.... So my wife then chose the pig on a bed of endives and french beans. It was tasty I must say, especially the endives and beans. The pork was mildly undercooked, which is fine with me, but not with everyone, and the quantity was enormous, leaving us with bloated stomachs. The dessert, which was a lime sorbet and peach cream (or maybe it was apricot) was sublime, and I could have eaten more of it. Ambiance was nice, the highlight of which was the establishment cat, well-fed with grey fur: who stretched himself out comfortably on a sofa and awaited the frequent homage of passing guests. With charisma and cordiality somewhat lacking in our waiter. When the bill came, it was very reasonable (that is, by today's pricey standards) for a party of four. On balance, a pleasant experience - but a distinctly odd one! A French bistro with no salad? Really? An entire cauliflower, baked tandoori-style....?More

Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, in an informal and rustically charming building, Le Square Gardette offers imaginative dishes for every taste. The blackened, seasoned cauliflower on a creamy bed of herbed sauce is a wonderful vegetarian dish— it is not often that can be...said while someone else at your table is enjoying succulent beef cheeks and another member of your party has a generous dish of shellfish. The atmosphere is casual, as another person in our group just chose several tapas plates. Dessert included an imaginative cucumber and herbed sorbet. Always creative, with friendly service. A gem.More

Gracious hospitality, incredible food, and good vibes all around! The owner turned out to be the one to greet, seat, and wait on me. She inherited a weary travel not fluent in French; instantly had me at ease and feeling welcome! A memorable bite, and...lovely mid-day respite from the heat! Charming and authentic!More

Another restaurant recommended by the young lady at our hotel. Very airy restaurant in a hip area of Paris. One of the daily specials was the chicken. It was an exceptional dish with good seasoning. This was a great place and we were in and...out quickly.More

With a lovely , well designed setting, a refined minimal offering on the menu the restaurant promises a certain mastering of the few dishes on offer. Upon tasting the food however, one is amazed at the chef’s success in his mission to search and destroy...and flavors, taking bland to levels unknown and most likely forbidden in culinary schools. We ordered the Thai salad which we concluded must have been like the Caesar salad, was named after a person called Thai, as olive oil and bottled lemon juice does not constitute a Thai dressing. Over all, after a dinner here, we left quite full, of bread and water; like we were liberated from a nice hipster prison. Lest we forget!More

My family loved the Cote de bœuf that came in a big dutch oven pot with lots of meat, potatoes, and mushrooms. I loved the appetizers: mozzarella, fish cakes, and asparagus = superb. Of course, a bottle of burgundy topped it off! Also, there’s a...nice vibe to the restaurant and the eclectic decor hardly goes unnoticed.More

My partner and I had our wedding dinner at Le square Gardette. We couldn't have imagined anything more perfect. For one, the setting is gorgeous. Old style decor, a beautiful terrace and lounges to hang out on. The staff were amazing, making us feel at...home. Dina and her husband who own the restaurant helped us organise and plan the whole evening. On top of this, the food was amazing and the price was perfect. I would recommend to anyone wanting a a beautiful Parisian restaurant experience. I can not think of one fault!More

The food was pretty good, also the quality/price ratio was okay, however, the waiter was not very nice and the service was really slow.

We arrived in Rue St Maur for a weekend in Paris and stumbled across this lovely restaurant in the neighbourhood on a Friday night. Luckily they had a table for three and we were treated to a fabulous meal in a gorgeous setting, just like...someone's living room! We had a starter and then beef to share between the three of us and we were not disappointed! The service was amazing and we were helped to understand and choose from the menu. We loved it! Thanks for a fab eveningMore

My girlfriend just moved to the neighborhood and we noticed this charming restaurant during a walk. We came on a Saturday night without a reservation and they sat us at the bar. The owner/manager was charming and cool. My girlfriend discussed wines with him and...he made sure we got the full dining treatment from our perfect seats the bar. The whole atmosphere feels like a hunting lodge built by animal lovers. It's both provincial and modern with food that satisfies every kind of taste. After lamb, oysters and a perfect desert we finished with an incredible digestive he recommended. We felt respected and cared for. We will go there often. Sorry it was a long delay since I wrote this review so I don't remember all the details of the meal.More

Discovered this lovely quaint neighborhood (artisanal bakeries, cool bars and a great record shop around the corner) by pure chance and happened by Square Gardette. The food was great (exceptional vegetarian options, and amazing line-fished tuna), service very friendly, and the decor ultra cozy! Prices...are standard for Paris. Will definitely try again when I'm next in the area :-)More

We stopped in here to take some refreshment after a long day of walking and had a lovely quiche and a few glasses of wine to take the edge off, and it was delightful. A really charming space.
