Beautiful restaurant at the Shangri-La hotel Paris. Beautiful interiors well spaced. Top notch Asian edibles with excellent service. treated like royalty.

For the night 08OCT I had reservation with some business partners for Shang Palace who where more than kind to take me to Ultraviolet, Michelin three-star establishment in Shanghai. And now was my turn to return a favor. I have booked Shang Palace hopping to...impress. Unfortunately, they cancelled two days in advance due to water issues in hotel. Ok, that might happen, and I might have sympathy for that, and I clearly expressed it to them. But when I asked both restaurant and hotel to assist me with another reservation via email, no one replied… none. On my part I wanted similar one star Michelin establishment, which is hard to get on Thursdays for next Saturday if you are just ordinary someone in Paris. Then they made a phone call, and I requested their concierge assistance (mind you this is Shangri-La in Paris and they should have Golden key personnel) , and hotel concierge said that I’m not a guest, and Ms. Rosa from restaurant side took my message and promised she will talk to boss… Nothing happened, they didn’t even call me back to tell me that they can not fulfill my righteous request. Obviously, there was no empathy to correct their mistake, there was no synergy between highly reputable brands Shangri-la and Shang palace, so there was no sense of guilt for spoiling momentum and experience. No honest will to utilize opportunity of showing what they really stand for, both Shangri-La and Shang palace. So, once you make reservation in Shang Palace, deposit a credit card, and pray that they will fulfill obligations from their side, cause if they fail you will end up asking yourself what kind of business they run there and why would you needed such episode in your life.More

For a one star michelin the experience was extremely disappointing. To clarify right away, the location is very nice, the food was well cooked. The highlight is the staff, professional, calm and friendly. Now, we had menue emeraude. And frankly it was just plain boring...and disappointing, yes high quality products. A whole lobster, yes. But apart from that it could be just the standard taste you can expect from a nice Asian food place. Is this obnoxious complaining on a ridiculous level, certainly. But so is the price of an evening at Shang Palace.More

Great food, great service, good ambiance. Only the live background music got to me after an hour. But the food was really very very good.More

The food was okay, if you’re gluten free there aren’t that many options for you and you can’t do the Dim Sum lunch. The few gluten free bites that were available were nice but nothing better than any other upscale chinese restaurants in Europe.More

For a traditional style menu with no attempts to make food modern or all Micheliny this place easily deserves the star it has because the flavors is the story. Every dish here at this restaurant has flavor. I know there is nothing simple about simply...prepared food because there is no place to hide. This place is all about execution from the Dim Sum to the Fired Rice to the Vegtables….The shrimp, beef and noodles dishes all excellent lo. It’s so good, its better than anything I ate in Hong Kong and Macau and better than anything I ate in San Francisco. Maybe just maybe the dim sum place Tim Ho Wan in Hong Kong can beat this dim sum but that’s splitting hairs. The service here is prompt and outstanding!!! I simply love restaurants that get a star for making good food that isn’t fancified. This place makes great food!!!!!!More

Aside one amazing dish, the oysters with caviar, my overall culinary experience was underwhelming. I was expecting bursting flavors and unusual creativity. I got very good Chinese food but nothing out of the ordinary nor very moving. The service is impeccable even though I noticed...that all servers are males while people bringing the food we trays are all females, that’s a bit sexist. In conclusion, the food is good but do t expect anything amazing aside the check.More

Save for the live Zither - Peking Duck (Silverhill Ireland) is not a patch on the finest Chinese duck that hails from Nanjing the original capital of China.. Apparently the chef doesn’t like his duck to have too much fat but fat content is of...course the essence of fine duck !More
