I was attracted by the proximity of the patio side seating next to the garden instead of asking to be seated indoor. It turned out to be a bad choice!! ( see later!) Everything was going well and the servers were all so attentive and...courteous! For starter, I ordered the barbecued (grilled?) eggplant with jalapeño and for main course I chose the lean ( some kind of white) fish wrapped in banana leaf with carrots and coco. While waiting for the main, they served a complementary small dish of crispy rice balls with fish (ceviche?) on top. Both starter and main were beautifully presented, and everything was going well until a guest, seated nearby, started to smoke! I guess I wasn’t prepared about that! The smell was seriously bad (I can tolerate some but this was stronger than normal) that I couldn’t stay for dessert and just ordered a coffee which was promptly served. It did ruin my experience for the night! I guess I could have asked to be moved indoor but I already finished most of my meal! I told the reception when I left that they should warn guests about this possibility and that patio seating can be hazardous for non-smokers! My overall experience is : service scores a perfect 5 ( rare in Paris!) with a 4 for food and 2 for the environment ( could have been 5!) C’est la vie!More

Service was a bit slow, I was not offered water or more tea when the teapot got empty, also the waiter was a bit disoriented when I asked them to pay with a Shangri-La points voucher. Food and ambience were excellent!

Same 2 stars I gave it on Google, with an explanation. Somehow the review was taken down, even though I gave the reasons (incredibly expensive for what you get, despite the very lovely setting), etc etc. Maybe this one will stay up; if not, I...see why they get 4.5 stars average. I get many compliments from Google on my reviews, with hundreds of viewings, if not thousands. Does somehow La Bauhinia pay Google to have poor reviews removed? This is what the BBB started doing years ago, and it destroyed their integrity and acceptance by the public in general. Anyway, I now add it to TripAdvisor. My taste buds & stomach do not see pretty wallpaper...More

The food was good but the ratio price/quality was not so good. To pay € 350 - 370 per person for a “special” december 31 dinner whilst in say the Four Seasons George V a truly excellent menu degustation is at € 150 on a...common day, then the difference is too big. Both restaurants are rated one star Michelin. Another important remark is the setting, the surroundings, the ambiance, the feeling. Whilst the Shangri-La hotel is an excellent Asian origin hotel, in fact more focused on business travellers, the ambiance and feeling of cosiness in the restaurant La Bauhinia lacks. Too much cold business, too little dressing with warm cosy elements. I would suggest the Hotel Shangri-La Paris management to hire in a french specialist whom may have designed the interiors of say many top of thr bill restaurants in Paris. Where when you enter you have true “wow” big surprise effect. The Shangri-La restaurants should generate the same effect. Now it does not. A lost opportunity. The magnific hotel deserves it.More

Firstly, I have to say that the atmosphere in the restaurant is amazingly cozy and it has beautiful courtyard with view of Eiffel Tower, great food and service. The menu is deliciously asian orientated cuisine, especially the chef cuisine has very unique taste such as...( tigre qui pleure - highly recommended). The most important is that the service was very attentive and professional. I came with a qroup of friend and we honestly so satisfied with everything. Definitely come back in a dayMore

Привет, I went to the breackfast last week and i was very pleased. Living in Paris from 2 years now i haven't try before this restaurant. I decided , recommanded by a friend, to taste the breakfast. Danishes are original with multiple colours, french toast...is just amazing. The service was very attentive and professional, our waiter with glasses , the hostess and the one in charge pleased us and even personnalize the experience calling me by my name when i was leaving. For a 256 euros per dinner/person, this was definitely NOT the dinner or experience you would expect. We were looking to get a full view of the Eiffel tower fireworks on July 14th , but the terrace was in fact a weird angle where we...missed most of it. The hotel and gardens are magnificent, but the diner was really disappointing : the bread was so hard and tasteless you could not even break it, the dishes were as tasteless as the bread with the exception of the Pavlova dessert . The service was a nice but again not what you would expect from the standing and cost . Bottom line: don’t do it, it is not worth the money.More

very poor service and restaurant overall the prices of the dishes make it one of the worst value/money ratio of all recent restaurant i tried in Paris the booking system was really difficult which should have been a sign for me not to insist going...there then at arrival at the restaurant no one to welcome you … i had to look around to find someone service at the table is worst than at some local cheap restaurants and you wonder if the personal they found was ever trained for the type of standard the hotel is supposed to advertise (3 menu given /4 people, amuse bouche served without explanation repeatly had to ask for bread, wine bucket shared with another table, dishes not served at the same time , empty plates left on table for long before being look after , etc etc )… very poor service that would be alright for cheap restaurant….but it is really expensive . the personal was nice and polite but inexperienced (or highly demotivated ) however there are a few positive sides to raise: garden is amazing, from the terrace there is view on the eiffel tower, and food is not that bad ….but nothing special and very over priced so overall i won’t come back and wouldn’t recommend it to friends and business partnersMore

Dim sums were out of world . Pham thai was perfect. Dips with hummus was not so good. Green curry was superb. But chole was so helpful. U must visit only to get served by chole.
