This was steps away from our guest house on the rue lamarck and was surprisingly good. Ate there twice and each time food was great and service very personable. The hamburger I had was pretty good (been to all of Londons's gourmet burger places!) and prices were reasonable.

We were wandering the streets near the Sacre Coeur and stumbled upon this wonderful little café. The staff was so friendly and of course, the food was delicious. I had a very simple salad with vegetables and chevre, it was delicious and very flavorful. I loved this quiet little street. I loved reading the forums about Montmarte regarding what subway... More

I am an American student studying in Paris, so when my parents visited here, I wanted to find the absolute best restaurants to take them to! This is situated a 15 min walk from Sacre Coeur, and it is absolutely great. My mom (who is a pretty picky eater) ordered a hamburger and said it was the best she ever... More

We stayed in this area for a week and every time we walked past this restaurant the outside tables were full and buzzing with local people. It is in a residential area behind the Sacre Coeur, a few minutes walk downhill. We enjoyed a meal here one evening, I had the ribs caramelized in balsamic vinegar, with broccoli puree and... More

Place was nice and in a very good location. Not expensive, and with many options for your tea or coffee break. I’ve posted a couple of pictures for you to see.

We headed back to our Montmartre apartment after a visit to Sacre Coeur planning to grab a sandwich at a local boulangerie for lunch, but happened on Au Relais en route. I had seen several good reviews for it, so we opted for our main meal in the middle of the day and were completely delighted with the dejeuner formule... More

My mother and I stopped off at Au Relais after a visit to the Sacre Coeur. And what a find it was! Well away from the tourist trail of the Place du Tertre, we felt like we'd stepped in to eat with the locals. I had a cheese burger and my mother had a quiche. The portions were generous, the... Whenever we stay in our friends apartment on the back (non-tourist) side of Montmarte, Au Relais is our local. Even though Edouard has retired, the new owners have carried on the tradition. It is an archtypical neighborhood bistro. The tables outside are always full of locals sipping wine or coffee and talking away the time. The inside is typical, too.... More

I have now eaten here a couple of times, and enjoyed it each time. Last night I came for dinner with a neighbour, and we all enjoyed our food. Each course was a decent size, and tasty (the cheese based starters we had were delicious). There are daily specials which are reasonably priced. The house wine is good and not... More

Staying in Montmartre

Neighborhood Profile
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colors, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
