We came to that place on our way to the Louvre museum. It was just lunch time, and we decided to give it a try. They had lunch menu, with very delicious salmon salad and nice paella. It seems that a lot of people from the business buildings around use the place for their regular lunch. I was impressed to... More

We were drawn in by what seemed like a good fixed price menu but once we were seated the selection on the menus was more limited. We decided to stay and ordered onion soup and main courses of chicken and duck (which had an extra charge). The onion soup was the worst that I have ever tasted. It looked like... More

My wife and l ate lunch here and it was pretty good. We each had the Prix fixe lunch and both our our courses were tasty. The place is in a very convenient location near Les Halles. The environs were very nice and the service was prompt.

This was really a bad experience for us - a group of friends of 6 with one having birthday that day! While the owner was kissing a woman on the terrace, a waiter was trying to find a bottle of wine we ordered to start with. And he eventually didn't! We had to choose one more - though, it was... If you are in the arrondissement #1 this cafe is a must. Good people, good service and good location. The French people are good at people watching and this is the place for people watching and having a good meal with your glass of wine. (French) Onion soup to die for. I will go back here when in this area... More

For 14 Euro we each had snails and then either salmon or fillet. Everything was well prepared. Service not a problem. Lots of business folk on lunch break. Very satisfied. Had this lunch two years ago and returned this year. Ate outside as the weather cooperated and it was a pleasant experience for not much money.

I had reserved Acajou des Volcans for a birthday diner of a friend of mine through La Fourchette with a nice discount on all food and drinks. The reservation went through very well and promised discount was applied automatically. It's a typical Parisian Brasserie of a kind. Nice but simple decoration. The food was very good and the plates were... More

I read about this restaurant in a book of classic bistro interiors in Paris and thought we should go have a look. It is nice inside, needs some buffing, and definitely some cleaning, but the place is all 1880s or so. Since it was raining terribly outside we decided to sit down and eat something. Standard three course dinner, nothing... More

The service was terrible (even though the restaurant was quite empty) the staff were more interested in talking to each other. We sat inside to avoid the smokers, however, the smoke kept drifting inside and we had to move. The food was good (we had the duck confit, cheese burger and creme caramel). The prices are higher than many other... More

The L'Acajou is perfectly positioned, in a picturesque tree lined street. And that's where it ends. The food is overpriced, but you expect that in Paris, but the quality is so poor. lacking in quantity and flavour. To be honest I would be embarrassed to serve and present the food. In our opinion you would be better off finding a... More

Staying in Les Halles

Neighborhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
