Fabulous dinner. Clearly, the chef is a culinary artist. We both had the fixed five course dinner and enjoyed the wine immensely. My food allergies were politely accommodated even within the fixed course meal. Exquisite orchestration of flavors and aesthetic presentation. This restaurant was a lovely surprise. Walking home after a day of tourist sites in the city of lights,... More

Lunched there wIth friends. The chicken was dry but the escargot was passable. Dessert was good. The service was good and the decor was interesting.

I enjoyed a good meal here with colleagues. The waitress spoke good English and was happy to translate the menu and to recommend wine.

This little bistro is away from the tourist hot spot of St Germaine. The ambiemce is attractive and the waitress is charming. The set meal of three courses for €33 is amazing value, and even if you choose the dishes with supplements the cost is still low. There is plenty of choice and all our dishes were excellent. The highlight... More

Excellent, delicious, fresh and innovative. House made foie gras. Delicious coquilles st jacques. Huge portions. The beef was delicious, cooked to perfection. Excellent selection of wines at reasonable price.steps from Notre Dame

There is something cool --almost cold-- about the sober, clean interior. We are not in St Germain des Pres, nor the Marais, after all. At the very first one feels slightly intimidated. Are we bothering someone? One can only feel sympathy for the young waitress who was is alert, helpful and as efficient as she could be--working alone to serve... More

This was a very nice stop before we headed back to the hotel in the eastern part of the City. The service was quick and the place fun to sit and to watch things .

We came across the Bistro Gastronomes by chance, and were drawn to it by the numerous Guide Michelin and Pudlo stickers in it's window. We were not disappointed. In fact, we returned a few days later for a second meal. We ate some of the best pork dishes we'd ever had both times, and were also drawn to many of... More

We read the good reviews... We waited on an empty restaurant to be seated. "Reservations?" Seriously? The menu looked OK but we gave up on waiting. Kind of expensive for the area and the waitress was less than helpful. Go to the Basque place across the street. We did.

One pleasant Saturday evening toward the end of April we dined in this excellent, left-bank restaurant. The nearby Metro stop, 'Cardinal Lemoine' brings you up by the rue C. Lemoine stairway into a charming intersection alive with the happy energy which is Paris. Following rue Cardinal Lemoine down a gentle grade one comes soon to Bistro des Gastronomes and enters... Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendor and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighborhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
