From the menu posted outdoors and looking inside, expectations were high. There were two people running this place and unfortunately, they were both quite busy. The guy handling the bar/wine service was much nicer. The blonde guy had a pretty lousy-unfriendly attitude and it was far from just at our table. Maybe having a bad night. The menu looked great,... In the midst of so many places to eat in the pouring Paris rain, I ducked into this welcoming spot cold and wet. Originally, I popped in because it was close to the flat where I was staying. I had a glass of champagne (for medicinal purposes you understand) and their onion soup which quickly revived me. Chatted with the... More

So many restaurants around this area that it was hard to choose when looking for somewhere for lunch . Decided on Equinox because it had an outside seat that was empty . The menu had a good selection of dishes to choose from , plumped for the canard and garlic potatoes and my wife had the scallops , both were... More

The Cabaret each second Thursday is worth a top rating if you go for the fun not the food. A three course meal is served and I must admit that I have eaten better - yet I have also eaten worse in my life. For the food I would give it a rating of 3 in 5, but for the... More

We went for dinner at Sunday night. Ok, it was Labor Day, but come on!!! Only one server (he tried to be nice indeed) attending all tables. The food took an eternity to come and when it came it was cold! We arrived at 8:30pm and left only around 11pm... 2 and 1/2 hours for a so-so dinner. Food was... More

Definitely a great restaurant in the heart of le Marais. The staff are friendly and helpful. I asked for vegan meals and they managed to prepare a great lunch for me. You can have a lunch for only 14€-16€. Tip: try the vegetarian salad for 14€.

We stopped here for lunch after a morning of walking in Paris. We received a warm welcome and enjoyed a 3 course meal for €16 a head. The choice was reasonable and the food great. We waited a while for the starter, vegetable soup, but we weren't in a rush and the buzzy atmosphere was very plessant. The soup was... More

It was a weekend evening and we were looking for a nice place to eat in the Marais. Many places were full up and, while Equinox was quite full, there were a couple of tables left. The welcome was fine, the menu and wine list looked fine and we were looking forward to a nice meal. Unfortunately, while my main... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighborhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendor. This neighborhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
