About
In the heart of historic Paris, on the Ile de la Cité, between Notre-Dame, the Sainte-Chapelle and the Conciergerie, and facing the Court House, the brasserie Les Deux Palais is a special place that invites you on a historical, cultural and culinary journey. The journey begins with the atmosphere of a place with a neat and signed decoration of the 19th century, in a Belle Epoque style with its columns holding a high ceiling to let in the light. Mirrors and brass railings offer the discreet luster of an unostentatious shine. It is in this sumptuous decor that our waiters welcome you with the hospitality due to the guests who honour us with their visit. Then the journey continues in the plate where we offer you dishes in the pure French culinary tradition. Finally, adventure into the best terroirs of France by exploring a carefully selected wine list. The brasserie Les Deux Palais is an immersion into the French art of living offered to all

We chose this place according to the reviews on Tripadvisor and we were satisfied. The service was polite, quick, the prices were reasonable and the food was fine. I think it is the best choice in the area of Notre Dame.

Had lunch here with friends who had been before. Really good waiter with a good sense of humour and good food. 2 of us had the beef bourginon, 1 a Croque Monsieur and I had the Entrecôte, we shared the daily special pudding which was a blueberry cake. Traditional menu and well executed

Going out for dinner with kids in Paris isn’t as easy as it can be in many other cities. However, the Brasserie Deaux Palais came up on google with an ok rating, it was nearby and not far from our metro station - and they had a kids menu! The kids loved the chicken and especislly the fries were good. Ice cream and juice was included in the meal price. We had a lovely bottle of their wine of the day - a rosé. Then we ate a homemade french onion soup, a salmon filet and ceasar salad for our mains. Dessert was also good, with my husband proclaiming it was the best creme brulee he’s ever had. The waiters were very friendly, spoke english and interacted with the kids. The younger ones even got coloring pages to keep them occupied. All in all a great evening.

One of the worst meals I have ever had. Do not go here. I truly wanted to like this place as the ambiance was great along with the nice indoor outdoor seating, but the food was horrible. We had escargot which was worse than we can get at home in Boston and our steak tartare was nearly inedible and made to be enjoyed by a crowd of tourists who don’t understand tartare. Portions were huge and quality lacked. We got a charcuterie board, which had low quality ingredients. The only thing edible was the bread. It’s no wonder they serve French fries with everything so their customers have something edible to eat on their plate!!! To top off our terrible experience, we had to ask 4x and wait over 30 min to get the check!

We went here for lunch since the place looks nice and the reviews looked on first view okay. The waiter was from the beginning rude and not welcoming. Both of our dishes were very bad. We ordered two sandwiches (each 17 euros) They had no taste, ingredients were not fresh and the bread was industrial (is this even possible in a country with such a nice bread). Would recommend to not waist your money and time on this place.

I just moved in around the corner and wanted to find a local brasserie I could rely on for various meals despite discovering incredible neighborhood restaurants that aren’t in such obvious locales. The waitstaff at Le Deux Palais were engaging and efficient and despite me trying my beginner French they were patient and accommodating. Also, they were very welcoming to my dog. The only issue was that the Cesar Salade I ordered was awful. It was too heavily dressed and the fried chicken breast was a wonderful concept but was just bricks of overcooked chicken that couldn’t be cut through. Worst was the lettuce in the salade had most of the leaves browned at their edges - an indication the lettuce was old. I was SO excited to embrace this brasserie but, alas, it’s just another tourist restaurant and, understandably so, given its location in the middle of various tourist attractions. It’s just not for locals - way too many options for incredible meals on Ile de la Cite and Ile Saint Louis. But, again, the waitstaff was nice and efficient.

Nice location, just a one minute walk from the Cité Metro stop, and a great place for people-watching. The menu is varied enough that my young cousin was able to find something she liked, and the rest of us appreciated the choices. Three of us ordered steak, two of them medium rare and one medium. The waiter assured us that we could always send them back if they were not done enough. Well, they were all quite a bit more rare than we wanted. We asked the waiter to ask the chef to cook them each for just another minute or two, and what we got back were dry and way overdone. I guess the chef did not appreciate our requests. Would I go back? Maybe for wine and dessert but not for dinner.

This review is actually from July, 2019. While the rest of the family toured Sainte-Chapelle, a very tired 6-year old and her grandmother made our way across the street to Brasserie Les Deux Palau’s, where we had the best banana split. It was just what was needed to give us some energy. After the family finished their tour they joined us and we had a little dinner or a cheese board and Croque Monsieur. Everything was wonderful. If you’re looking for a place to dine near Sainte-Chapelle keep this restaurant in mind. The staff were very helpful and the restaurant was very clean. Cannot wait till we can go back again.

We chose to meet a friend here in large part because of its location, halfway between her house and ours. But we'll definitely seek it out again because it is one of our more memorable experiences of eating in Paris. The welcome by the staff was professional, cheerful, and attentive. This is a large brasserie and there are many seating options. When queried about our preferences, we asked for the quiet place to talk and they found for us the perfect situation in the oldest and prettiest part of the restaurant. There is a large à la carte selection, but we ordered primarily from the menu of the day, which I would recommend. Two of us had the excellent coquilles saint jacaues served with a puree of parsnips; the other had the noix d'agneau with roast potato. I saved room for the crumble with apples and pears served with a dollops of vanilla ice cream. I have already recommended this restaurant to friends.

We came here first in our December 2019 trip and tasted the French Onion Soup, and it was one of the reasons we decided to make Paris our destination for our trip this summer of 2020. It is THE best onion soup we've had and we will probably visit one more time before leaving Paris. Don't go from Paris without tasting the soup! I give four stars now because the place lacked in keeping social distancing between tables and the staff wore their face masks in the wrong way (didn't cover their nose). Other than that, I truly like the vibe, the atmosphere and of course the soup.

We had a lovely petit dejeuner after visiting Sainte Chappelle. You're standard croissant, bread, butter, jam, orange juice, and coffee. But they were all outstanding. We picked up pastries at boulangeries most mornings, and sitting here watching the people go by made me wish we'd had our breakfasts out more!

Okay, my hopes were not high. A pretty-looking brasserie on a corner in Île de la Cité, I was expecting a tourist-trap in the middle of August, but this was just really glum. Over-worked waiter who absolutely would not meet our eyes, sticky tables, expensive drinks, tables way too close together for any social distancing. A shame, because the location is truly great and with a bit of love it could be really special.

We had high hopes....based on the reviews of others. Food was ok, nothing special. The onion soup was less onion and more cheese and bread swimming in broth. The waiter memorised our order and didn't get it completely right, we also asked for more water, which never arrived. When we asked for the bill, the waiter brought the card machine and quoted a price - I asked to see the bill, he walked away, having rolled his eyes. When he came back with our bill, it was over €20 less than what he had quoted. He apologised, saying he got mixed up. Because of the location and the fact that the cocktails and french fries were nice, we give it 2 stars.

If you are looking for a typical Parisian brasserie where you can eat very tasty food at an affordable price, go to Les 2 Palais. We went there on a Tuesday afternoon, what looks like total chaos is actually a well-oiled machine with about twenty very friendly waiters swarming together. The food is very tasty, you feel like you are in the Ratatouille restaurant. Certainly not a "tourist trap" as there are so many in Paris, there are many more locals eating there than tourists, which is always a good sign.

Ile de la Cité
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
