1 MICHELIN Star: High quality cooking, worth a stop!
Chef Grégory Marchand learned the trade in some of the English-speaking world's top restaurants (Gramercy Tavern in New York, Jamie Oliver's Fifteen in London, Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong). In his compact restaurant in the heart of the Sentier area, the space (with exposed brick, beams and stonework) quickly fills to capacity, thanks to cuisine that is perfectly in tune with today's international inclinations, rooted in meticulous sourcing (from the ceramic plates to the fruit and vegetables from Terroirs d'Avenir opposite). The marriages of flavours are original and ingredient led, and the Anglo-American twist is particularly noticeable when it comes to the desserts. Two services (6.30pm/7pm and 9.30pm).

Amazing restaurant with a fantastic meal! Service was wonderful, and each dish had explosions of unique flavors. They were super accommodating to my brother’s allergy, and we loved the Carte Blanche style of dining, never knowing what was coming next. I’ve never had flavors like this before, and the atmosphere was cozy, quiet and quaint. Would definitely come back!

We dined at Frenchie for the chef’s tasting paired with the premium wine selections. There are two seatings per evening, and we were there for the first. Reservations are not easy to get, and the price is fairly steep. However, the experience was very memorable and a highlight of our trip to Paris. The restaurant’s decor is simple, not at all “fancy,” but comfortable. Our table gave us a partial view into the kitchen. I must say part of the enjoyment of dining here is watching how the well the chefs work together—it’s like watching a well choreographed performance. While very busy, all chefs seemed calm and in command of their duties. The food is unique and delicious, consisting of multiple courses that are well described by the server. While each course seems deceptively light, by the time the meal is over, you’re stuffed. My only comment is that because there are multiple courses and limited time per seating, there were a few times I felt a bit rushed (for instance, not finished with one glass of wine before the next selection was poured). The food was superior to the wine served, which was only average considering the price of the premium pairing. Nonetheless, I would recommend this restaurant if you enjoy fine innovative dining.

When we were in Paris 5 years ago our dinner at Restaurant Frenchie was outstanding. The food then was served and explained with love and enthusiasm and the wine pairings were chosen with care. This visit sadly the enthusiasm, joy and care were missing. The food was still very good and beautifully presented. The outstanding course for me was the tomato tart served with a shot glass of tomato water, absolutely brilliant. We chose the less expensive wine pairing and they were mostly poured from large bottles and lackluster. They are resting on their reputation.

We were at the second service at 21 30 and arrived a litte early ( 10 minutes ) despite the rain outside not allowed to enter the restaurant before 21 30 ! The restaurant was so cold inside that I kept the jacket on for the first hour. The dinner with 5 courses was served in a turbo speed that took the taste of the whole dinner. It felt the the staff wanted to get rid of the guests in less than the 2 hours that we spent there. The 40 euro for the added truffe per person (!) is outrageous and not worth it on the ravioles ( a starter ). We ordered the wine package for 70 euro per person and got 5 small glasses of wine ( less in the glass for every dish served ). The price for the dinner ended at 592 euro for 2 persons - not worth it at all ! I recommend the bar à vins on the other side of the street - friendly and cheaper !

We dined at Frenchie approximately 2.5 years ago and couldn't wait to come back. We were excited to return in December, 2024 for dinner. Sadly, we were very disappointed in the service, food, and general experience. The food was underwhelming, nothing special or memorable, I felt hungry and I actually did not enjoy the main course of duck (heavily undercooked, caused my husband and I to be ill for the evening and next day) and the dessert was terrible... and I have a major sweet tooth and love every dessert typically. Aside from food being less than average, the service was so bad. The "manager" would stop at the end of each course and ask how we liked it, we gave feedback on the mentioned duck course and other items and there was hardly an acknowledgement. Im not sure why she asked because clearly she didn't care. Furthermore, they were not accommodating to us at all. I provided a heads up we are bringing our son weeks prior to ensure it was acceptable (which it was) and they simply said upon seating "you never told us, so there is nothing we can do." Very untrue. They didn't even offer an additional bread service for him and the dessert course he couldn't even have because it had alcohol in certain components... again.... attention to detail and service was missing (they never told us). The cherry on top was my son tripped and fell on their uneven floor plank (not marked AT ALL) and no one from the team or staff even flinched or asked if he was okay. I emailed the manager after detailing my experience and that was dismissed just like everything else. Please take your time and money elsewhere because they clearly do not care about the customer experience and even the thoughtful french cooking is now missing. Many other reviews mention similar feelings, and they are absolutely accurate. How disappointing.

FRENCHIE has lost its French touch. I wish I had read all the reviews before booking because I feel the same way-disappointed ! Three weeks wait to book for an anniversary dinner and then you find out there are two seatings in one night at a French Michelin restaurant ? What’s the next step? Self service? This is a place for tourists now, one visit and you are done. No lingering over your pre dinner cocktail or after dinner drink, you are rushed the whole time because a second sitting is waiting. The food was good but not memorable. Our first course of tomatoes was good although the wine pairing was totally wrong for the dish. There are two wine price levels and in any decent restaurant in France all the wines are quality wines. In the regular pairing none of the wines are over 20 euro a bottle retail. The entire restaurant was having the only choice, 140 Euro tasting menu so it was an automatic flow of service. Don’t linger. The staff felt like they were selling you real estate, asking constantly if the dish was good. The end of the meal was a disappointing chocolate and red pepper cake. I scooped out the red pepper part and the waitress seemed unhappy about it. In a non French move, you are quickly brought the bill without asking for it, and upon looking at it, my husband saw we were billed for an extra aperitif and four wine pairings instead of two. No real apology from the staff, « mistakes happen ». We were tempted to tell the large group of Japanese tourists to check their bill carefully. No sight of the chef the entire night, not a personable experience. Just a restaurant that was good but has lost its vision with the Michelin star.

It was a challenge for me to enjoy Frenchie's as much as I hoped I would. I'm not that much of a foodie, so I won't comment on every course; but I found each of the courses on the mandatory tasting menu to be good, but not on a par with some of the truly fine restaurants where we have eaten in Paris. The restaurant has an engaging youthful vibe and the waitstaff was very energetic. I personally prefer to see a menu before the course is set down in front of me. The only true complaint I have is that, as each course was presented, the waiters would open the impressive wine list and point me towards the most expensive wines for each category. I actually know a bit about French wines, and enjoy them, but I thought this conscientious "upselling" was not appropriate. On one or two occasions, I declined the waiter's suggestion, and there was no hostility in response. I could see the potential of Frenchie's to become a leading restaurant. In my review, some additional work on the dining atmosphere and the welcome of customers would help.

Like a west village NYC Resturant, but in Paris. If you want to dine with what seemed to be exclusively Americans, then Frenchie is a good spot. That said, the food is pretty good, the service was at least for us friendly but also very absent at times, our issue is that it is a very American Resturant that reminded us of the places we often go in NYC. If you have limited time in the city, and you want to dine in more authentic Paris surroundings, then look elsewhere.

Located in a quieter street where other Frenchie businesses are located(Frenchie Bar is across the street, Frenchie wine shop and Frenchie Italian restaurant is down the street). The restaurant is small, probably with less than 20 seats inside (excluding the chef's bar seats). Ambiance was upscale French farm house and diners wore smart casual attire. All the service staff spoke English. Food was good and wines by the glass were reasonably priced. The chef came to only certain tables (obviously not ours). I was surprised by the extra tip line when we received the bill as we had not seen this in any other restaurant in Paris (or Spain). We felt compelled to give extra (yes, that is our decision).

Friends who had visited Paris earlier in the year recommended this restaurant and we went to celebrate my mother in law's birthday and had the most exquisite meal. Everything we tried was so delicious and the service was of the same high standard as the food - very attentive and helpful. The wine our waiter recommended was a perfect pairing for our meal.

I wish there was some way to differentiate this review from any other excellent review because the meal we enjoyed was truly exceptional. We made our reservations exactly 21 days ahead of our visit (as needed to snag a spot) and enjoyed the tasting menu along with the wine pairing. Every single course was incredible with each bite evoking something special. We were seating next to the plating kitchen so we were able to watch the meticulous construction of each course as well. The only downside is we live in NYC and can’t easily come again soon.

What becomes of a meal deferred? Like Langston Hughes and his dream, I am only left to wonder. I made a reservation at Frenchie as soon as they were available for our date and had a confirmation email of my reservation. I also confirmed the reservation weeks later when requested and had a confirmation email for my confirmation. Believing we were all good to go, we set out for Frenchie looking forward to a highly acclaimed Michelin-starred meal and arrived promptly before our reservation time. Upon our arrival, we were informed that our reservation did not exist and must have been cancelled to some vague fault of our own. Perhaps, it was a simple misunderstanding. Or, perhaps there were intentional machinations at play; I can note that we weren’t the only guests bumped that evening. Maybe it was just sheer incompetence. I cannot say. Whatever the reason, I can tell you two things for certain: 1) documentation of our reservation and confirmation did not matter; and 2) we received no phone call, voicemail, text message, email, postcard, telegram or any other type of acceptable form of communication in the past century from Frenchie. It made me wonder: has this happened to any prominent restaurant critics? Moreover, could Chef Marchand even secure and hold a reservation at his own restaurant? If you, dear reader, happen to snag a Frenchie reservation, bon appétit! Proceed with caution and keep your hopes in check. But if you also find yourself kicked to Frenchie’s lonely curb on Rue du Nil, I recommend not accepting that compensatory glass of wine and, instead, drowning all of your sorrows in a great bottle of cider and all the crepes you can consume at Breizh Cafe. They were kind, accommodating and certainly much more economical, so celebrate the euros you have saved! Or, if you’re a devoted glutton for punishment and associate culinary perfection with painfully competitive reservation processes, then I can attest that Septime both delivers a memorable meal and honors their reservation system. Disappointment aside, there are far weightier issues in the world than having a fine dining experience at Frenchie. Next time, I will put my time, energy and money towards a more worthwhile cause.

Our dinner at Frenchie was a complete disappointment. Like many other travelers, we planned our trip around this meal because it was highly recommended by trusted friends and almost every food blog/influencer we follow. What a waste of one of our 6 meals here! Besides service missteps (cutlery on the table not for use until your 3rd course; no plates for amuses; no bread plates)you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber, the food was lackluster and at times inedible. For example, I do not eat pork. I made the restaurant aware of this when making my booking and they confirmed this when we sat at the table. When the fourth and main course arrived for the evening, of course, it was a pork dish. My main instead was a piece of chicken. It looked fine enough from the outside but when I cut into it, it was still raw at the center. When I politely sent it back, there was no apology, but rather I was informed that this is how they cook chicken in their kitchen, but that they would fire me another piece. The second piece arrived (about a third of the size of the original portion) overcooked, dried out and not edible… again! When they cleared my plate (photo attached) and asked if I was full, and I indicated that I was not, there was no follow up. Of the 5 courses and 5 mini courses we were served, plus bread, only the bread, cheese puffs and the fish course were anything that I would consider eating again. And consider is a kind word. I understand that many other diners would have choked down dry chicken so as to not offend the chef, but that’s not the New York way… and it’s certainly not the New York way to stay silent when others will waste their money and more importantly dinners that could be better spent at other more memorable meals in Paris!

The venue is small and intimate. Not very charming—their wine bar across the alley has more of a vibe. But the food was fantastic. It was supposed to be 5 courses, but with all the little extras, it actually turns out to be 2 courses. Each dish was beautifully presented and most had different components. They poured sauces onto our dishes at the table, which was nice. The meal was worth the price tag of $140 Euro. We ate seafood, lobster tail, and duck. The selection was spot on and the flavors matched all of my usual favorites. The matcha dessert was heaven. I love matcha. The meal was elevated and delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t recommend it enough. It’s still on my mind! Pictures on my insta @loveinmybelly.

This was one of the most memorable meals of my life. I went to dinner with my wife and we had just an amazing experience. So many courses, full of unique flavors and tastes. Terrific service. One of the highlights was the tomato course - three dishes of tomatoes served in different ways. One was tomatoes in a vanilla, rum savory sauce. AMAZING. I still can't understand how they made the dish so delicious or how they were able to incorporate vanilla into a savory dish. Our waitress was very hospitable and knowledgeable. She recommended an excellent Saint Joseph wine, which was not regularly available. Very much appreciated. Overall, an AMAZING meal!
