The subtitle of this restaurant is 'King of Shellfish' so that lets you know what to order right away. The neighbourhood is a bit rough-and-ready, set between Gare St Lazare and the foot of Montmartre, but tourists, locals, execs and visitors from the countryside make their way here in flocks to sample the superb shellfish and seafood. This restaurant has been on site since 1925 and offers both a fun and fine dining experience. There are funky/smart banquetts, mirrors, paintings and etched glass windows and the staff zoom around like TGVs. Try starter of, oh, plate of fruits de mer, followed by whatever is fresh, possibly the stuffed shellfish with garlic butter, and followed by Grand Marnier souffle.

There is nothing better to ruin one's dinner than having to put up with a mad over-excited restaurant manager. Having chosen to opt for an evening menu didn't help as it soon became obvious that this would lead to 2nd class service. Some of the seafood was not even available at the start of the evening. Are they resting on... More

I've eaten here a number of times and have never been let down. I seem to go for the Sea Bass every time. Great wine selection also. Reasonably priced for the quality received. I'd recommend it.

Our hotel recommended this restaurant prior to going to the Moulin Rouge show. What a good choice, they serve a lot of seafood towers which we did not have but almost everyone in the restaurant ordered. We had there lamb special, and the cooked it to perfection, The staff and service was awesome. Highly recommend, you will not be disappointed.

We had an excellent three couse meal here. Fresh oysters, very good fish, and a heavenly souffle'. The restaurant is Art Deco style, and the service level good.

We went to this restaurant twice, though we don't often return to the same place, and we pleased we did. It is a beautiful place with excellent service and great food. The first time we went with "formule" dinners -- all three courses were delicious, as was the wine served with it. It was in the 25-30 Euro price range... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighborhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighborhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theaters, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
