We ate here this evening, determined to keep our costs down. Had a very nice and reasonable bottle of Bordeaux. We chose the mid range set menu and thoroughly enjoyed every course. Our servers were delightful ! We just do not understand the negative reviews on here - could it be that other patrons had unrealistic expectations? It's not a... More

It was late and I was hungry, as I strolled thrugh the chilly night air down the Rue Mouffetard. On impulse, I decided to stop in for a bite at the Petit Bistrot. The staff are very genial and welcoming. The prices are very reasonable. The food is quite mediocre. In this respect, it is typical of a number of... More

Lovely venue, great snails, amazing pave steak, and service was great. The wine was lovely and cheap. Three fixed price menus. Could suggest 12 snails put on 20 euro menu?

I guess my husband and I have been spoiled in our travels around France (outside of Paris). We heard there were no bad meals on Mouffetard but neither of us were impressed by this place. Should have known since the menu was in English and had too large of a selection. Wish we'd just gotten a crepe or gone to... More

"Au Petit Bistrot" is yet another quaint little restaurant I discovered in Rue Mouffetard that offers good food and service. As the majority of such restaurants, it offers three course menus for 12 or 16 euros, respectively. Both menus offer good food, the only difference is that the 16 euro menu is more plentiful and a bit more diverse. "Au... More

This was a our favorite restaurant in Paris! We tried unusual things: appetizers - duck breast salad w/green beans & foie gras w/toast points. Entrees: I had frog legs & my husband had pork steak (more like a big chop) and the desserts were - WOW! This place is picturesque Paris and the staff was delightful. We REALLY enjoyed everything... It's a little hard to write a bad review of this place, because the staff was great. The waitress was charming and funny, and the maitre d'/owner(?) kind. The atmosphere is also lovely, with exposed white stone walls. But the food. Yikes. My husband and I both ordered the menu du jour. His starter was described as prawns and avocado.... More

I felt like an imposition. Snotty female waitress could barely speak or look at me. Thefood wad greasy and veges cold and old. Chicken was ok but greasy. Ice cream had ice in it. Cheap and cheerless. Avoid.

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendor and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighborhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
