In search of foie gras for a Birthday lunch did not disappoint. 3 of us, birthday girl had foie gras ravioli that she loved and her sister the set lunch which she really enjoyed even though she wasn't quite sure what she'd ordered. Staff were friendly and helpful. Don't go if you don't eat meat - it is true french... More

We dined at Comptoir de la Gastronomie largely due to their reputation--which was certainly deserved--for their foie gras and escargot. Delicious! It is pricey although in a typical range for French fine dining.

We took our Parisian friend out to dinner here. He had never been here before and was really impressed with the food. Though, he thought the place was kinda small and difficult to move around once it started getting crowded. I kinda like eating at the tiny places in Paris. You are right next to the other people eating around... More

Restaurant with a tradition of south west of France. You better love the french charcuterie and ducks cooked in all his pieces.

Based on TA reviews we dined at Comptoir. The servers seemed scattered and chaotic. While I understand this was a casual setting, the service still fell short. For a restaurant so well regarded, we found the food rather uninspired. After dinner, we walked this neighborhood and found some adorable bars and restaurants - many of which I wish we had... More

We have eaten here a couple of times and it has always been consistent in its food and service. This time we popped in for a lunch. We hadn't made a booking but the staff were happy to find us a table. We think that Le Comptoir de la Gastronomie has the best Cassoulet!! This time I had the Duck... More

Friendly service, spoke great English. Very casual setting. We started with the escargot, cooked to perfection. The foie gras ravioli was superb, delicate tastes, very rich dish. Prawns and grilled vegetables linguine was delicious. Prawns were huge and juicy. Finished the meal with fresh apricot Panna cotta for dessert, exceptional Had a carafe of merlot, very nice wine and great... More

Our family celebrated our last dinner of our European trip together here! We had a delicious meal and our waitress was wonderful! Definitely a great place for french food. Recommend calling ahead for a reservation.

Visited the restaurant last week. We liked the little shop next door and bought a few items to take back with us. As far as the meal, the veal chop was pretty good. However we ordered roast beef which was the daily special and it was terrible. Even the table next to us had two of the same orders and... More

I've been traveling Europe for over a week now and this was the best meal I've had since!!! There were 3 of us and we got the glazed duck with mashed potatoes, foie gras ravioli, and foie gras plate. These were amazing!!! They also give you bread which I dipped in the ravioli sauce and it was just the right... More

Staying in Les Halles

Neighborhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
