I can't vouch for the authenticity of the food here (I'm used to American Chinese food), but I CAN say that it was DELICIOUS! I had been craving Chinese food and sifted through different recommendations to finally settle upon this one. My huzzy and I got shrimp spring rolls, a soup I can't remember the name of (but it was... More

Maybe it's a cultural difference in terms of what to expect from a Chinese restaurant in London versus Paris but the food wasn't great. The service was fantastic however so I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt in terms of the menu. Look at the menu online before going so you don't waste time and money if it isn't... More

Upon reading a review online, we decided to give this restaurant a go. The restaurant was located on a street parallel to av de choisy (the main street for Chinatown). Food was really nice and the service was good too. We had the tofu with mince pork, sweet sour pork, stir fry vegetable and Cantonese fried rice. We enjoyed every... More

Although the unusual menu was promising, with a wide variety of not-your-typical-chinese-restaurant-dishes, such as entrails, duck tongues, pork blood and rind and kidneys, the food failed to impress. Largely because of the miniscule portion sizes. Honestly, we are not large people with huge apetites, but still we felt a bit hungry after finishing the meal. We had the duck tongues,... More

This was my mom and my first trip to Paris. My mom is a Chinese immigrant to the US and rice is critical to her diet. So I reluctantly (why would you eat Chinese food in France???) trekked to Paris Chinatown in search of "real" Chinese food. This restaurant is maybe three or four blocks from the heart of Paris... I'm from new york city and my family is from Hong Kong. I went to this location since it stated it had authentic Cantonese style and it sounded like it was a typical restaurant in Chinatown, NY (maybe I shouldn't have read that review). This restaurant was a bit of a disappointment. I was with my parents at the time... More

This restaurant serves authentic Teochow cuisine. It is located in a residential area close to metro Nationale (line 6) and quite far from the other Chinese restaurants in the 13th arrondissement . It's open until 1am every night (even Sunday night) and that suits us fine because we work late. We ate there twice recently and arrive both times at... More

Staying in Place d'Italie / Quartier Asiatique

Neighborhood Profile
Place d'Italie / Quartier Asiatique
Far off the beaten path, this part of Paris is a forgotten gem worth exploring. Avenue d’Ivry houses Europe's largest Chinatown with great Asian supermarkets and shops, and a thrilling atmosphere around Chinese New Year. Place d’Italie impresses onlookers as soon as they set their eyes on it. Not far, around La Butte aux Cailles, the streets suddenly imitate provincial France and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported. The beauty of these streets lies in their surprises around every twist and turn.
